Chet’s district also includes College Station and he’s an Aggie. He’s been able to put together a base of vets, Aggies, and inner city to stay in office for well over a decade. He also has an extremely well run office.
Since you live in Texas, you know how much loyalty Aggies have to other Aggies. However, Chet’s positions on gun control, etc., have worn this base thin. The passing of the WWII generation, which tended to vote Democratic has also hurt him. However, he still brings home massive amounts of funding, and that gives him strong ties with local vet groups and others.
He could be on his way out, though. There’s more organized opposition to him this time around than ever before.
I do know about Aggie loyalty..Hoping we vote him out this time.
