You are right, because I can tell you FIRST HAND, that the elderly won’t get proper treatment. I have seen it with my own eyes. I was an RN years ago and the care here was wonderful. Today, it is absolutely disgusting and awful. The healthcare workers, in their defense, have no support. They dont have a lot to work with and they are totally overloaded with patients. The ambulances are lined up at the emergency waiting their turn, the beds are full, the hallways are full. It’s disgusting. As a former RN, I am shocked at what I see in hospital now, absolutely shocked. However, I am not blaming the healthcare workers. They are doing the best with what they have to work with. You don’t want to go this way. CO

Elderly woman in 'awful' wait for surgery
By Freya Michie
Updated Thu Mar 18, 2010 2:27pm AEDT
The Victorian Government has apologised to a 90-year-old woman who has been waiting for four days for surgery to her broken leg.
Jean Rodwell from the Melbourne suburb of Keysborough fell over in her home on Monday and broke her leg.
She has since been in the Dandenong Hospital for four days, fasting and waiting for surgery.
The Health Minister, Daniel Andrews, says the situation will be remedied.
"I am very sorry about any distress that has been caused to this patient and her family," he said.
"I am advised from Dandenong Hospital today that these are clinical decisions, but that Jean will get her surgery today," he said.
He says more critical patients had to be treated first.
"I don't think it is fair to say that senior Victorians are given second class care, that's not my experience," the Minister said. ###

Welcome to Obamacare.
The death toll from national health care goes on and on.
From Australian news outlet ABC: Notice how the government official never admits to what is going on.

Queensland Health Minister Stephen Robertson says he is not aware that any Queenslanders have died because of a shortage of public hospital beds.
The Queensland head of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, Dr Sylvia Andrew-Starkey, says emergency patients have died because of access problems.
"We have had a couple of deaths that I know of that are attributable to waiting time," she said.
Mr Robertson says he is shocked by the claim and he is not aware of any deaths.
