They know that the vast majoirty of Americans will make them pay if they enact this.

I suspect that the holdouts are trying to convince themselves there's a way of avoiding the payback.

There isn't.

And if they vote for this, they will find that out the hard way.

Nah. Most pols don't care about the voters - never have. They are just holding out to see how much of the Treasury they can take home with them. There are statues to be built to their monumental egos, you know... jobs created and all that.

Apathy: during the demonstrations yesterday hordes of tourists were walking around with no idea what was going on - and when told replied “never happen”.
