At Least Three Dozen Democrats Still Undecided on Healthcare Vote: CBS News and The Hill
Saturday, March 20, 2010 | Kristinn

Posted on 03/20/2010 4:46:40 AM PDT by kristinn

CBS News and The Hill, a D.C. newspaper focused on Congress, both report this morning that there are at least 36 undecided Democrat Congressmen going into Sunday's vote on the Democratic Party's attempted conquest of the healthcare industry.

The Hill reports:

According to The Hill's whip list, there are 36 Democrats who will vote no, leaning no or likely no and another three dozen are undecided or unclear. Pelosi does not have a lot of breathing room.

As Cantor says in his memo, 38 is the magic number for the GOP: "38 Democrats are needed to defeat a government take-over of health care."

On The Early Show at 7 a.m. EST, CBS News reported their count showed 44 undecided Democrats.

Many its the left’s tactic to throw off everyone by claiming they have the votes.

Should that happen, the Republican party will be overrun with very left Rinos. That would not be good.

So we've heard but others say they will follow the 72 hour rule (since when?) and they're looking to get at least 225 to show a large majority to crow.

Frankly tomorrow cannot come soon enough. Last time I had this grueling knot in my stomach was in 2000 awaiting the SCOTUS decision.

Few democrats or Republicans, for that matter, return to their home districts at the end of their elected positions. They become lobbyists and live in dc or Maryland.

it’s clear its time for O’Reilly to start looking at retirement or a gig with a cheer leading squad.

Did you see BOR's segment with Brett after Brett's Obama interview? He'd ask Brett a question and then kept interrupting him, as usual. It was so frustrating that it was pretty much unwatchable. (one of the many reasons I just can't watch BOR anymore)

Tomorrow isn't the end of the fight to defend the Constitution. It will be only the beginning if they shove this unconstitutional garbage through the House.

Some good news here:

This Is What the White House and Nancy Pelosi Are Hearing in Their Left Ear [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

From the abortion lobby .... NARAL president issues the following statement:

Pro-choice Americans stand strongly alongside our allies in Congress who are resisting Mr. Stupak’s outrageous last-minute attempts to hijack health-reform legislation. The public has grown tired of this unnecessary drama and wants to see Congress move forward with a bill that is not tainted with Stupak-like provisions. Negotiations with Mr. Stupak are a non-starter for NARAL Pro-Choice America and pro-choice women and men across this country.

If ...

1) Dems don’t have the House votes.

and

2) Stupak is insisting on the Senate voting on any abortion “fix” — enrollment corrections bill — first, which is the only guarantee it is real.

and

3) The feminists are screaming.

and

4) The White House/Pelosi have nothing compelling to offer to get a) the feminists to hush up and b) enough of the Democratic caucus in the Senate to sign onto whatever Stupak asked for.

.... this all could be falling apart for Barack Obama right now.

Whatever happens, this is remarkable — 1) Yes, that the White House/etc. is so condescending toward the will of the people here. But also that 2) with all their power in Washington, the White House/Pelosi find themselves in this situation — having to make some pro-life Democrat from Michigan satisfied — in late March 2010.

I will be there, but I am under no illusion about the “undecideds.” According to Rick Santorum, this is just a ruse. More than likely, they will vote with Pelosi if their votes are really, really, really, needed. Santorum’s recommendation is for them to vote “no” and then hide because they will be sought out and their arms twisted.

KEEP THE CALLS UP! DC OFFICE LOCAL OFFICE

Hold your own street protest in front of your reps local offices. Or busy street corners. Try and get the local media to cover it. Hammer the Medicare/SS issue, nothing like mad grannies and gramps.

This is from a 2007 contact list of congressional aides. Some might not be there any longer, but worth a try. The ones on the one post are senate aides, a few have bounced back, it’s worth the effort to clog up their email system along with the phones, and 1/3rd of these senators are up for re-election.

Mail must be inspected for anthrax takes 2 weeks, so if you snail mail send a post card

CODE RED Contact list http://www.nrcc.org/CodeRed/targets/
Remember they are all being offered BRIBES for their votes. Ask them how much their bribe price is.

The National Republican Congressional Committee has published a target list on health care. In addition to continuing to contact the five Tennessee Democrat Congressmen, you can go http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/94697.aspx to contact some of these targets. Much of the talk following Obama’s announcement has focused on how to defeat this second bill through reconciliation, but that is misleading because the first step to defeating Obamacare is not by concentrating on defeating the “fixer” bill but by defeating the Senate bill in the House when it goes to the floor for an up-or-down vote on Sunday March 21st.

Good idea from the bloggers at Hillbuzz:

They offer specifics and links on how to put pressure on Dem DONORS, who have private numbers for legislators who may have taken their phones off the hook.

And here are toll-free numbers we can use to call any Senators or Reps.

At the first number below you must wait through a tape recording urging you to tell your Rep or Senator to vote “yes” for the health care bill. Just hang on and when the recording is over, you will get the Capitol operator. Just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office. Then you will either talk to an aid or have the chance to leave a message for him/her to vote NO on the health care bill.

When you use the second number and the Capitol operator comes on, just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office. Every time I use this number I get the Rep or Senator’s answer machine, so it may be set up that way all the time...to go to their answer machine. Either way you can leave a message to vote NO on the health care bill!

We need to use these toll free numbers that have been set up for the health care/ BO supporters and illegals to use! After all they are FREE!

Dear God please hear our cries of despair. Please touch those that are undecided and modify their hearts to let them understand the consequence of their votes.

Amen!

I've called him every few days as well! I spoke to his aif=d yesterday and e-mailed him last light. I asked his aid how in heaven's name could he still be undecided? she said, "Well, he wants to really understand this 'new' bill and make an educated vote." I told her BS! He just wants to deflect criticizm for his upcoming "yes" vote! In my e-mail to him last night I said: How does it feel to be a sell out to country? Compared to Mary Landrieu and Ben Nelson, you were a cheap whore for Obama…only a Circuit Court nomination for your brother!

What a loser he is!

"Exactly correct. We have no obligation to follow an unconstitutional law."

Unfortunately, the expanded Medicaid will automatically hit our payroll taxes. They got us. They are taking more of our hard earned labor. I can only hope that Texas fights this to the end.

BOR has completely lost me. I was willing to put up with his cheap shot theatrics until he started believing himself. Just cause it’s his opinion doesn’t allow him to blow off others and facts they may present.
He comes on and I go the the Comedy Channel.

Yeah, i don’t believe anyone is truly “undecided.”

OTOH, if Pelosi had the votes, she would have called the vote and gotten it done. Which means, she doesn’t have the votes.
