Democrat Rep. Stupak tonight explains bill of 'corrections' to resolve abortion language conflict in health care in an interview on Greta Van Susteren. Very interesting.

Understand and if it was any other issue than abortion, you are correct Stupak and company would compromise. These guys will not compromise on this issue.
I knew that the Dems were in big trouble when MSNBC was trying to smear Stupak a week ago on Maddow’s show. The Democrats are in big trouble. Don’t let the media and the Democrats fool you.
Stupka has to know that any deal Pelosi or the Senate give him to take out abortion is worthless. They will doublecross him and his group. He has to know that.
Take heart johnthebaptist, God answers prayers and he protects the innocent who are interceded for. There are a lot of people who have been prompted by God to pray on this one. God will hear our cry and we will give Him glory and honor at the end of the day.
I just wish someone cared about America and it’s people instead of their own personal agendas. Don’t misunderstand, I like that Stupak stands anti-abortion. I hope he is standing for it for the right reasons and so far he seems like he is.
Yes, and if true to his principles (Rats? principles?) he should insist that the House include his amendment in the Senate bill before a vote or “deem” is taken to accept it.
Me too. That's all we're asking.
BTTT
I don't share your faith in this matter. I hope you prove me wrong. I don't think you will.
I do not know his district. Probably Dem Catholic union area. He is a fool if he thinks Nancy/Reid or Hussein will stand by any no abortion amendment. They will strip it back out 10 minutes after the vote. His constituents will hammer him and vote out for being stupid and naive.
Also - How can they amend the Senate’s bill? This may all be a smokescreen where the cave or have a deal at the last minute.
Thanks Newt and Dede for screwing us in NY-23. We could have used that vote.
Stupak wants government health care to pass, just not with tax payer funded abortions. I’m glad he’s a stumbling block for the Democrats, but that’s all.
Bottom line.
Is it possible to change the health bill at a later date if it is working out badly after implmentation?
He is trying to find a way to cave and save as much face as possible at the same time.
I would love to be wrong, but I know Demoncrats...they are not trustworthy people.
"I don't trust him. I hope I am wrong but I don't think I am."
I don't either. I think he's running a dog & pony show for cover. He knows his 'lanuage bill' will never pass with the RAT pro-choice bunch.
In the end he'll cave & he thinks it will make him look good for 'trying'.
He flat out told Greta he wants the health care bill to pass. That says it all!!
Any strip-out would not get the StuPAC vote, however.
I am going to pray you’re right and I’m still praying for Stupak to hold true to his Catholic faith. He knows the Catholic bishops and the Church are against the senate language and that any ‘fix’ in the House won’t get passed in the Senate. He’ll just be another CINO office holder tomorrow if he goes back on his word. God forbid.
I am confused. On the hard leftm they will demand abortion.
Nancy will tell them be patient - we will fix it “later.”
But abortion is in the Senate bill. So stupak wants a side agreement not funding abortion. How can they change it?
He is another political whore with a little dirt under his fingernails. What do you suppose they have on him?
That is it, they can’t change it. Nancy is boxed in unless she can loosen some other votes. Stupak’s bloc won’t budge on this one.
Stupak has given they 7 - 8 ways to do it but they have rejected them all.
It's down the wire. I've been pessimistic, but now is not the time for that.
This whole process, or lack thereof, has caused me to study our Constitution more closely than before. For that, I am glad. It also reinforces in me that we are a nation created and guided by the freedoms granted to us by God. My heart is thankful and more appreciative than ever for the life we have had, and I hope will continue.
I cling to those beliefs in these dark times. God's will we not be mocked. Whatever the outcome of this 'vote', hold tight, be strong and rest to fight another day.
I will add, I am a lapsed Lutheran, not attending church for 35 years. At almost 50, this is an enlightening experience for me. The difference between light and dark couldn't be more striking. I think the rest of America is waking up to this fact, as well. Pray.
Another source quoted Stupak as saying that he had offered Pelosi 7 or 8 different ideas to address the abortion funding objections and she didn't want to hear them. I think it's safe to say that he and his coalition would probably vote for the Senate bill if it did not allow for federal funding of abortions.
I think he's using his leverage to get enough people in the House and the Senate to consider whether health care reform is important enough to them that it would be worth dropping the abortion funding.
I think Stupak and his ilk want Pelosi and Reid to try to cobble together enough votes with the abortion funding dropped. If it's that or nothing, Pelosi and Reid might be able to get it done. But it would take more time and time is something they do not have.
