JACKSON, Miss. (AP) A lesbian high school student embroiled in a legal flap over her school's prom policy has received a $30,000 scholarship on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
Constance McMillen was speechless Friday when the talk show host pulled out an oversized check from the Web site Tonic.Com, a digital media company.

Im going to get flamed for this but...
Generally speaking I like Ellen. I have gay friends and family. That said, I have a problem when they force their lifestyle down your throat... This girl screwed many kids out of a prom because she wanted to make a public issue about her sexuality. Next, someone will want to bring their goat to the prom... ******************************
We generally don't flame posters for posting the truth. In my view, this wanne-be Male, and Elle, shouldda stayed in the closet.

Same thing happened in Denver years ago & the Irish cancelled the parade. They didn’t try to get in on the Mexican Cinco De Mayo parade. They would of been beat up.

You’re right.
Ellen’s not doing this girl any favors. In fact, Ellen is using her to ‘normalize’ her own agenda.
Hopefully it’s not irreversible, but like you say, it does brand the girl even more.

Would Abe approve of a gay prom? LOL He would support freedom to be who you are and oppose those who penalize others for it. A concept foreign to Southerners apparently.

As long as we're making wild-ass guesses, my guess is that the school board figured they would probably lose this case in court if they held the prom and banned her, so rather than be forced to hold a gay prom, they canceled the whole thing One couple and suddenly it's a 'gay prom'?
The responsibility for this mess lies with the selfish teenager with the sexual disorder.
The responsibility lies with the school board who chose to maker her a martyr.

Of course not, but anyone with eyes to see knows that these things never end with just the one exception. The inclusion of the lesbian's gay date would have set a precedent that would inevitably have led to more and more gay couples at the prom, both this year and in years to come. The school board took a principled stand. Bravo to them, and that girl should be ashamed of herself for forcing them into this position through her own selfishness.

If Ellen hates men so much then why is she trying to look like one?

The inclusion of the lesbian's gay date would have set a precedent that would inevitably have led to more and more gay couples at the prom, both this year and in years to come. You make it sound like an epidemic. Regardless, the precedent is now set as you said. Now for years to come, any student who wants to attract attention or get back at his or her classmates just has to announce they're gay and attending the prom. Then bingo! The prom is canceled and they make the news and suddenly they're the martyr. Good plan. </sarcasm>

In case you haven't been paying attention, it IS an epidemic. It is not necessarily that more people are becoming gay, but that more power is being handed over to the gay lobby to dismantle American culture and traditions. Giving in because the school was afraid of making the lesbian a martyr would be asinine, because it would be surrendering the fight out of fear that there might be a fight. The girl is a martyr only to those who are sympathetic to the gay agenda.
For those who believe in upholding the structure of American society, the school board are heroes and have set an example that one does not have to tolerate this nonsense - one can stand up. One does not have to go along to get along, which is what you are advocating.
