I think the idea is to make sure the Dems will NOT be there after the elections.
The problem is that the old Congress will be there until January 2011 when the new Congress takes over. That means from November through December 2010, the old Congress can do whatever they want. Unless I’m mistaken, people are forgetting that after the election the old Congress can still vote on bills until the new Congress takes effect.
