I am not a stooge who finances the propaganda from Hollywood. I do not watch his movies so I cannot comment. I would guess most of his films are tripe but the masses like junk food too. Sounds like you like Obama’s close friends.

Oh ok you were speaking out of ignorance then. If you throw out everything with a taint of association with undesirables you have to toss out most of Western Culture.

The WWII people weren’t racists, they were just terrible parents.

And if you think ‘Schidler’s List’ and ‘Saving Private Ryan’ are propaganda...

I told people for years that Hanks and Spielberg were scum making a quick buck of WW2 and WW2 vets. People said oh no he loves vets.

Hadn't thought of that before, but I expect you are correct. It's sad.

It’s also false. Spielberg had been making films about WW2 since he was a teenager.

Racism? Good God - the new Witchcraft. I hate what this country has turned into. This whole post just show how totally whacked the whole idea of ‘racism’ is.

Hanks is an actor and I enjoy his work. But I respect his opinion less than I would that of a retarded gerbil.

Hanks’ idiotic comments may have killed the rating for “The Pacific” according to http://www.tvweek.com/blogs/tvbizwire/2010/03/hbos-the-pacific-opens-big.php

From the TVByTheNumbers story: Sunday night’s premiere of HBO’s The Pacific was watched by 3.1 million viewers another 900,000 or so caught the encore telecast bringing the cumulative total for the night to 4 million. I warned you last week not to expect numbers anywhere near the level of the premiere of Band of Brothers in 2001, which opened to 10 million. Changing TV viewing landscapes including more DVR, more On Demand and more choice in general – I would’ve been shocked if it got anywhere near "Band of Brothers."

I watched the first episode and it does not, so far, compare to "Band of Brothers" but we'll see how it goes.

One small point, while I find William Sadler an excellent actor, he does not, so far, make as 'Chesty' Puller for me. He does not have the physic nor Puller's throaty, Virginia accented voice.

The seeds of war in the Pacific were sown by Teddy Roosevelt decades before Pearl Harbor.
I highly recommend ...

If Hanks’ assertion is true, then the liberals hero of heroes - FDR - was a racist of the highest order.

Italians really get a break!

The Germans didn't beat the holy crap out of Hitler, then string him up by his heels.

The Japanese didn't beat the holy crap out of Tojo, then string him up by his heels.

The Italians didn't commit genocide.

So, one half of WWII (the European Theater) was "the good war," the only war in human history that has ever been justified (with the exception of the American Civil War).

Meanwhile, in the other half, an evil racist America was discriminating against Hitler's politically correct allies, the People's Republic of Japan.

Liberalism is interesting, isn't it?

How dense is the skull surrounding Hank’s brain if after being involved in Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers projects you conclude we were evil.

Ya know, as the bar keeps getting shoved higher and higher, I’m having less and less trouble with “racism” and “racists.”

In fact, I think I have reached the point where, if a politician has NOT been called racist, sexist, homphobic, and/or reactionary, I won’t vote for him. If he hasn’t pissed off the race pimps, NAGs, gay mafia, and progressives he is lacking in either principles or courage. In either case, he’s not suitable for office.
