Iranian authorities have reportedly released on bail a top reformist who has been jailed since last June, along with a filmmaker and a reformist journalist.
The news comes ahead of Iranian New Year celebrations on March 21.
Opposition websites say Mohsen Mirdamadi, head of Iran's biggest reformist party -- the Islamic Participation Front -- was released after posting bail of about $450,000.
He is awaiting a verdict on charges of acting against national security and propaganda against the Islamic republic.
Earlier this week, the Iranian regime declared that it had banned political activity of Mirdamadi's Islamic Participation Front.
Film director Mohammad Rasoulof and reformist journalist Akbar Montajabi also reportedly have been released on bail.
Iranian authorities have cracked down on opposition supporters since protests erupted in June 2009 against the disputed reelection of President Mahmud Ahmadinejad.
How generous of Iranian authorities to release one of their own kind (Islamic Reformist) on bail. Was the release after Khameneis recent deal with Rafsanjani? Did they have a revelation from Ali or was it Khomeini? Perhaps a sign that Mehdi is coming out of his grand occultation for this Un-Islamic festival (NoRooz).
Iranian mullahs unsuccessfully tried to ban this national festival during early years of Islamic revolution. Now these mullahs & co. are doing their best to further Islamize this Pre & Un-Islamic festival.
Very likely.
But it is interesting to see that the culture of Noruz - the significance of this festival - does persist in Iran.

Absolutely. After 1400 yrs of actively imposing Islamic this and that on Iranians, it is quite remarkable. I think it goes to show the resilient nature of non-Islamic Iranian culture.
