The leadership says they have the votes, but projecting an aura of confidence has been a key to their pressure strategy. Bart Stupak says Democrats are 16 votes short, but pessimism has been, well, part of his strategy. So I prefer to actually, you know, count the votes.

Before most of you say that it is hopeless and that this is a done deal, keep in mind you are becoming the useful idiots of the Pelosi propaganda campaign.

Rather than ponitificate 100 reasons why this is hopeless, do something positive and use that excess energy to call and fax and whatever else you can think of all the ones who are not yet decided.

If you use that excess energy, you can say that you had a hand in defeting this. If you don't, you will have a hand in getting it passed.

Code Red sent me an email saying

From public information, here is today’s tally of where the healthcare bill stands in Congress.

Yes Votes 202
No Votes 205
Undecided 24

I don’t know how reliable this is

Fox News just recently flashed a graphic showing the count 214-217.

Anyone know how they arrived at that?

As I recall, FlamingDemLake is a liberal website.

The only reason I am giving it credence is that Medved has quoted this blog. Medved strikes me as a very demure kind of guy and not prone to loony reporting. I’ve listened to him for years. If Medved is paying attention to these guys then ok I’ll play.

I think this is a massive propaganda campaign not against ordinary citizens but for the democrats in the House. Pelosi is trying to portray to the House congressmen/women that this is in the bag when it is not. If they start believing that they are going to be turned into hamburger meat they won’t vote for it.

I think this bill is dead!

Would it be wrong to hold demonstrations outside of congress's homes?

I think they feel they are to insulated from the people! They attack us in our homes. We cannot escape what this government does to us. They come after us in our homes, churches, business and schools. Where do we demonstrate against them? Only in DC!

Roger that. I’m with you. My wife and I have been calling and re-calling reps. Woody Allen once said that 90% of success is just showing up. Now is the time to speak up and make your presence felt. If not now, then when?

Rush had a great idea today.

Don’t know how to organize this. He said everyone should Fedex to Congress for Saturday delivery one page.

“Vote for health care and you are fired!

"Do you like thir firedoglake blog? Is it reliable?"

It's a liberal site, but has a reputation for getting its facts straight. Unfortunately, this posting is from Tuesday. I'm not sure how accurate it is now.

Here's their latest, from yesterday...

firedoglake.com’s latest post, it includes Schauer’s and Gordon’s “yes”:

Incidentally, the count is now 193-206, 204-210 with leaners.

UPDATE II: Travis Childers and his odd moustache will vote no. I expected this, but had him in the undecided camp. So make it 193-207, with leaners 204-211.

It means Back to the top. When people see a thread they think is important they sometimes post “bump” or “back to the top/bttt to help keep it going. This is an good thread.
