Bacon, bananas and bread are my measuring tools. All are up.
Bananas are 59 cents a pound this week, up a bit but not abnormally so. I either make my own bread or buy my favorite brand, Roman Meal, when it’s on sale for $1.99/loaf. This week, though, I saw bread for more than $3 a loaf. I don’t think I’ve ever seen regular sandwich bread at that price before.
Dairy is on the rise. I’ve noticed a substantial increase in the price of milk, eggs and ice cream. What really bugs me about the ice cream is the price went up AND they downsized the carton.
Walmart shopping as of Monday night here in Springfield MO.
French Bread - $.99 a loaf (same as last year)
Bacon - $2.48 a package, Farmland (a little higher than last year)
Bananas - $.49 a lb (same as last year)
No hyperinflation at Walmart for me.
Beer is my index.
My domestics Yingling and Shiner are holding steady ~ $5.49 to $5.99 for a six pack in bottles.
Micros are outrageously priced in the $9 to $10 range.
Imports do seem to be on the up and on the rise.
