John McCain is not normally good at concealing contempt for those he believes are deserving of it. But when it comes to J.D. Hayworth his rightwing challenger for the Arizona Republican nomination for this Novembers Senate race the former presidential nominee does not even try.
Earlier this week, Mr Hayworth, a former talk radio conservative, made the latest in a series of gaffes when he said that allowing gay marriage would enable people to marry their horses.
(snip)
I mean, Caligula [the debauched Roman emperor] only made his horse a consul nobody talked about marrying his horse, says Mr McCain in an interview with the Financial Times. You cant make this stuff up. And yet, Mr McCain is also proof of the dictum that you either run scared or you run unopposed.
In spite of having a 20-point lead in the polls, Mr McCain is taking Mr Hayworths challenge very seriously.
(snip)
There is a strong anti-incumbency mood in the country you have to take every race seriously, says Mr McCain. Approval ratings for Congress are down to 12 per cent. You have to expect the unexpected.
(snip)
They point to Mr McCains reluctance to champion immigration reform, an issue that he once pushed hard, and on which he strenuously denies he has diluted his position. They also point to his retreat from support for legislation to bring in a cap and trade regime for carbon emissions. Again, Mr McCain says that he has not changed his views and is awaiting a genuine conversion by Mr Obama in favour of nuclear power a requisite, he says, for the all of the above approach to energy.

John McCain, you treasonous bastard, I challenge you or any of your traitorous cohorts...
The Britishers put their foot into it yet again. Talk about deliberate distortion. JD said nothing of the kind. Moreover, JD has’t made a ‘series” of gaffs. In addition McCain is ahead by 20% in only one Rasmussen poll, whuch includd Cgris Simcox, who has since withdrwan deom the campiagn and thrown his weight behind JD. The Rasmussen poll before that one, had JD oly 2 points behind at 43% to Mccain’s 45%:

It is quite obvious that the msm will prefer the RINO McCain over a real conservative in JD Hayworth.
Fiancial Times is a liberal bag of sh*t newspaper shilling for McCain. McCain does not have a 20 point lead.
Hopefully the people of AZ will view McCain like the people in FL view fruity Charlie Crist. McCain sucks.
If McCain is under 50% then he is in BIG BIG trouble. 45% is very bad.
You mean March 20?
The last poll did have McCain ahead by 22 points, but then the one before that had McCain ahead by only 2 points. So it's a very fluid dynamic situation. The next poll which should come this week, will be very interesting.
Yes. Apologies.
Here is hoping JD wins against the Manchurian Candidate. When the RNC calls asking for donations I just list off McCain, Snowe, Collins and ask why I cannot make my own decisions better than theirs.
Why couldn’t he just have been a Democrat and saved the masquerade.
Looking forward to that poll ( 3-20 ). Have not seen any recent polling.
I forgot that I throw Lindsey Lohan Grahmnesty and Twinkletoes Crist in their faces. I usually just get stammering or apologies, no valid arguments because there are none.
All is forgiven as long as you ping me when the poll comes out. ;)
Not sure how to handle the next five months before the primary. If there was ever a candidate I wanted to see go down, it’s him.
I’m not sure what it will take for this country to wake up and realize there is no difference between the Republican party and the Democrat party. Both parties are so compromised and corrupt their members need to be color coded so we can tell the difference.
Knock it off with McCain! Right now McCain is fighting with us and we need ever fighter will can get until November rolls around so we can vote to stop Obama and his thugs.
This is either sarcasm or you're a writer from Onion. McCain is not a Conservative, sorry.
