FACT CHECK: Premiums Would Rise Under Obama Plan [This Should Be The Nail In The Coffin!]

FACT CHECK: Premiums Would Rise Under Obama Plan

RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – Buyers, beware: President Barack Obama says his health care overhaul will lower premiums by double digits, but check the fine print.

Premiums are likely to keep going up even if the health care bill passes, experts say. If cost controls work as advertised, annual increases would level off with time. But don't look for a rollback. Instead, the main reason premiums would be more affordable is that new government tax credits would help millions of people who can't afford the cost now.

Listening to Obama pitch his plan, you might not realize that's how it works.

Visiting a Cleveland suburb this week, the president described how individuals and small businesses will be able to buy coverage in a new kind of health insurance marketplace, gaining the same strength in numbers that federal employees have.

"You'll be able to buy in, or a small business will be able to buy into this pool," Obama said. "And that will lower rates, it's estimated, by up to 14 to 20 percent over what you're currently getting. That's money out of pocket."

You haven’t heard? Premiums will be 4000% cheaper and employers will be able to give their employees a raise!

OBAMA: How many people are getting’ insurance through their jobs right now? Raise your hands? A’right. Well, a lot of those folks, your employer, it's estimated, would see premiums fall by as much as 3,000%, which means they could give you a RAISE!

I’ve never heard a politician talk about “WHY” insurance rates are going up. Could it be the hospitals over charging? I know that when I had a stroke, I was in the hospital for a day and a half. The bill was $15,000.00.

Let’s see. Force all Americans to buy insurance (or pay a tax). There is a limited amount of medical supply that underlies insurance demand. Low supply, large demand. Prices will definitely go up. I learned this in high school many years ago.

Rep. Paul Ryan on Greta’s show last night, from Fox transcript:

VAN SUSTEREN: All right, last night in the mark-up, anything change?

RYAN: Nothing changed. We went at the bill with lots of what we call “motions to instruct.” There are versions of amendments to try and change the textness (ph) of the bill. The Democrats did the same thing.

One thing that they did do, which I found was telling, is they added a motion to say, Let’s put a new price control entity in this law. This is what President Obama is saying he wants to add to the Senate bill. Give the government, in addition to having one person, the Health and Human Services secretary, be the regulator of all health insurance in America, he wants to give that person the ability to price control

What that is another way of saying is that’s basically the back door public option. It gives the government the ability to run insurance, private insurance, out of business so that the government is the only player left. They want to try and insert this language in this bill in the Rules Committee, at reconciliation.

To liberals, cost controls are the same thing as price controls. We know differently. Price controls will force private insurers out of the market in a cascade, leaving only the government as the sole insurer. This whole thing is just pure evil.

Premiums Would Rise Under Obama Plan

This is news? Duh. Abortions aren't cheap. This bill will empower the Executive branch to require insurers to cover abortions. Added coverage = added cost = higher premiums.

Does anyone remember how inexpensive a college education was before the Federal Governmnet started offering grants and guaranteed/subsidized student loans?

In Mass, when RomneyCare began, our premiums were $1500 a month, a $300/mo decrease.

At the beginning of Year 2, our rates rose to $2000/mo.

At the beginning of Year 3, our rates rose to $2450/mo.

At the beginning of Year 4, our rates would have been $3000/mo, but we moved to another state.

Same insurance plan all the way through. We are self-employed.

Ouch! When gov’t throws money at the problem, then you have too many dollars chasing too few goods, and the price increases. Thanks for sharing you “perfect” example.

Code Red” - House Target List on Health Care
The National Republican Congressional Committee has published a target list on health care. In addition to continuing to contact the five Tennessee Democrat Congressmen, you can go http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/94697.aspx to contact some of these targets. Much of the talk following Obama’s announcement has focused on how to defeat this second bill through reconciliation, but that is misleading because the first step to defeating Obamacare is not by concentrating on defeating the “fixer” bill but by defeating the Senate bill in the House when it goes to the floor for an up-or-down vote on Thursday, March 18th.

And here are toll-free numbers we can use to call any Senators or Reps.
At the first number below you must wait through a tape recording urging you to tell your Rep or Senator to vote “yes” for the health care bill. Just hang on and when the recording is over, you will get the Capitol operator. Just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office. Then you will either talk to an aid or have the chance to leave a message for him/her to vote NO on the health care bill.
When you use the second number and the Capitol operator comes on, just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office. Every time I use this number I get the Rep or Senator’s answer machine, so it may be set up that way all the time...to go to their answer machine. Either way you can leave a message to vote NO on the health care bill!
We need to use these toll free numbers that have been set up for the health care/ BO supporters and illegals to use! After all they are FREE!
