On this St. Patty’s day, I am reminded of my Great Grandfather,who came to America in the 1850’s to escape the Irish Potato Famine.
Upon arrival in Boston, he enlisted in the Army, the 9th Massachusetts Infantry.
He was in 3 major Civil War Battles and was wounded at Fredericksburg.
Upon return to Boston he joined the National Guard and fought the Great Boston Fire which destroyed the West End.
I share this little story to contrast the behavior of the Americans of the Past who came here seeking a better life, and made America THEIR country, vs. the current crop of jerks.
