Its very nice for Irish people to make such a fuss about a day dedicated to the honorable memory of a Englishman, St. Patrick.

Although I’m an American of Irish descent I was shocked when I read that St. Patrick was a contemporary of St. Augustine. I had thought they were separated by 500 years.

Ouch. I don’t even want to think about the labor involved in clearing those fields of all those rocks.

The book “How the Irish Saved Civilization” is actually quite good on St. Patrick. It’s really about 400 to about 1000 AD in Ireland and reads quite well. I didn’t bother with it for several years thinking it was just another Irish joke book, but it isn’t at all.

If snakes don't like the icy sea swim to Ireland, how did they get to England? Note the map of sea surface temperatures. Sorry, that part of the article makes no sense.
