She's correct. A law not passed in conformance with the dictates of the Constitution is no law at all. That being said, the democrats, being in control of the instrumentalities of state power, certainly have the wherewithal to force compliance at the wrong end of a federal gun, but that is not the same thing as the natural obligation of voluntary compliance that all Americans owe to a properly passed, and signed statute of the United States of America.
Furthermore, this is nothing more than precisely the same sort of civil disobedience that the real civil-rights leaders, such as Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., engaged in back in the day when they carried out peaceful sit-ins in whites-only restaurants and whatnot, and were willing to accept the sentence of jailtime or a fine as part and parcel of their testifying against the immoral and unjust racial separation laws they were protesting.
In point of fact, our position is even stronger than was theirs, not because they were wrong or less important, but because the laws they were protesting were, in fact, legitimately enacted laws, whereas what we intend to protest against is something that has been rammed through improperly and is not even a colourably valid law.
