Cantor: direct yes/no vote on healthcare bill needed
STAR-EXPONENT ^ | March 15, 2010 | Eric Cantor

Posted on 03/15/2010 3:11:34 PM PDT by fightinJAG

Congressman Eric Cantor, R-Richmond, said the Senate healthcare bill is full of gimmicks and that Democrats are attempting to “ram” it through by bending the rules and confusing the American people.

The House Minority Whip, Culpeper’s congressman, issued the following statement Monday afternoon:

“There is no doubt that Americans want health care reform, they just don’t want the trillion dollar health care overhaul complete with kickbacks that passed the Senate on Christmas Eve, which is why Speaker Pelosi is having such trouble securing the votes needed to pass it. Americans have made it abundantly clear that they prefer incremental health care reforms to strengthen the system we have by lowering health care costs, improving access to care, and removing unfair practices from the system.

“The bottom line is that if Speaker Pelosi believed there was ample support for the Senate legislation, then she would bring it to the floor of the House for a ‘yea’ or ‘nay’ vote as stated by Article I, Section VII of the Constitution. Instead, Americans are watching what happens when it becomes necessary to push political kickbacks and bend the rules so perversely to give members of the majority party who wouldn’t otherwise support this legislation political cover.

“There is no doubt that Americans want health care reform...”

All due respect to Cantor, there is doubt, and we don’t really need those suck up lines at a time like this.

Otherwise, Cantor has been very solid.

We don’t need Federal Health care anything. States can pull a Romney care if they want to go broke.

“There is no doubt that Americans want health care reform..."

I have Zero desire for the Government to get wrapped up in the Health Care system (or any Private industry).
If they want to regulate the work of the parasitic lawyer class - who drive up the insurance rates - they can assign themselves that project. But keep out of the other meddling...

In the context of opposing ObamaCare (which Cantor does), "Reform" can also mean "back off the taxation and regulation binge you govt. powermongers are on, and let enterprises, businesses, professions, states, non-profits, providers, families and individuals freely work out a liberty-based approach to healthcare."

That's a reform we could cheer for, yes?

OH, GIVE ME A PHONE

Oh, give me a phone
Where the Democrats roam,
In the land of the Bribe and the Spin,
Where we never let up
On the Blue Doggie pups,
Cause we won't let Obamunists win.

Phone, e-mail and yell,
Whether doggies be Red, White or Blue,
Then we'll barge through the dooor,
And we'll sit on the floooor,
Till they join the Tea Party too!

The ONLY reform we need is gov’t getting out of our lives, our freedoms. My health, my body is no business of the gov’t. The audacity of them wanting control and then expect I pay them to control me is over the top and add the fact, we all know, they will do a piss poor job of it because it’s not about health but control. Us paying for this is basically our agreement w/them that we agree w/their control!

This health care reform is a lie from the pit of hell!

"Reform can also mean...."

Excellent points.

The Federal Government is already involved, and probably will continue to be, like it or not.
