Hill's $nub of U.S. companies in purchase of crystal stemware is clear
New York Post ^ | March 15, 2010 | GEOFF EARLE

WASHINGTON --- Hillary Rodham Clinton's State Department is spending $5.4 million to buy fine crystal stemware for American embassies -- but it won't give the US economy much of a boost. The contract was given to a tiny Washington, DC, interior designer, which in turn subcontracted the crystal work to a Swedish firm -- snubbing such US companies as the famous manufacturer in Clinton's own back yard, Steuben Crystal of upstate Corning.

I disagree with the very first sentence in the Post article in that it is OUR State Department not Hillary's. However, the balance of the article is informative.

While certainly small in dollars compared to many excesses of our government this is indicative of the complete disregard for the money stolen from us by force by the Federal government.

Had Hillary worked at being our NY senator and not been climibing up the political ladder looking to be president, she might have known Stuben Glass is in NY State and produces some very nice stemware.

I sent a comment to the State Department and to Stuben Glass. (see State dept comment below). ==================================================== To US State Department:

You are spending $5.4 million dollars of OUR money for crystal stemware (I guess you don't want your ruling class types to have to drink out of glasses like the serfs who pay your salary) and did not have the work done by Stuben Glass a US/NY State company?

Good grief, didn't the head of the State Department carpet bag a Senators position for NY State to be used as a stepping stone to something more lofty befitting her royalty?

This is so typical of the ghetto of lawyers in Washington who think they know so much they can control everything except spending obviously.

Do you even have a clue how much in debt this country is and how many people you have put out of work by your stupid policies?

Cancel this contract immediately and if your ruling class elite buddies cannot stomach drinking out of a regular glass then at least have a US manufacturer, Stuben Glass do the work.

I really have to wonder if Obama people made sure this story got to the press. You know it will make for fun reading upstate. Shoosh - I thought Hillary was smart, now I know the truth, she just thinks she smart.

Couldn’t she use what she took from the White House. Not home often enough to use it for parties, right!

True dat. The lack of oversight on these issues shows a total lack of regard for the offices these people hold.
