Yet another self-important revisionist anti-Iraq War movie bombs. Every time Hollywood sinks another $200 Million into yet another disaster project like this, I smile...

The box-office curse of movies about the U.S. Mess-o-potamian escapade remained unbroken, as Damon became the latest star — after George Clooney, Jamie Foxx, Tom Cruise, Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, not to mention the South Park guys — whose attempt to address the blood and blunders in our Mideast wars tanked with the mass audience.

Americans recognize antiAmerican propaganda when they catch a sniff of it (and the spouting of Hollywood Reds patting themselves on the back for living with BDS).

There was no more hint of America's fatal foreign policy frustrations in Iraq than there was of homosexuality in the trailers for A Single Man. But somehow, just possibly through the Internet, people know. Both films couldn't escape their true identity, and suffered — not for their sins but for their boldness.

The public doesn't support Hollyweird's propaganda efforts. If Hollywood hadn't rewritten hundreds of years of copyright law, many of the films that keep them solvent would be in the public domain now (anything 28 years old) and Hollywood would HAVE to be more accountable to the public's taste in current movies.

Personally, I feel that Team America was Damon’s finest film.

Wow, a $230 million Matt Damon movie makes $14.5 million in it first three opening days.

What wonderful news!

The Green Zone shadow, plus the failures of a bunch of other Universal movies (Land of the Lost, Bruno, Funny People, Duplicity, State of Play, etc.), cost Shmuger and Linde their jobs in October. Their legacy projects — this and the expensive disappointment The Wolfman — are still costing Universal.

Oh man! Look at that roster of stink-o-rama!

And I'll bet both Shmuger and Linde sit around all day talking about how GW Bush was no good at his job!

I see a little "Welcome to WalMart!" in their futures.

A lot of people who were blind just a year ago have waked up. They have seen Bush’s success in Iraq, and have seen Obama blunder in A-Stan.

Unfortunately box office is not longer their target. After leaving the dark side the late great actor Ron Silver fielded the question of basically why Hollywood makes movies that the audiences don’t want, especially anti American ones. He said that they don’t care for high box receipts like they used to do but are now centered on DVD sales and foreign releases. That’s where the money is now so they dont have to care what we want.

$230m for just blowing stuff up, no advanced special effects? That’s way too high, I’d be surprised if it was more than $100 or so.

I just love the “Team America” reference. America, F Yeh! Here we come to save the motherf’in day yeh!

Ha, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are some of my favorite people out of Hollywood because they satirize both sides. Unlike the idiots at Family Guy, who almost seem to have a leftist agenda. I still love the cartoon, but I just think South Park is much smarter.

I’ve worked on film sets with Matt Damon:

Matt Damon is no American Solider.

Matt Damon is smaller (height/weight) than the average American, much smaller than the average American Soldier (including females).

Matt Damon doesn’t do his own stunts.

Matt Damon was a writer before he was an actor.

I was basically forced into seeing it this weekend. It was, simply put, crap.

The only POSITIVE thing I can say about it is that at least the CIA is painted positively.

Other than that, we lied about WMD. That’s the entire plot - Bush lied, people died. Seriously.

Do NOT spend your hard earned dough on that show.

Today I talked a big Matt Damon fan out of seeing it in the theater, saying she could see it on a Rebox DVD in two months. < / cha-ching >

In Team America: World Police, the first Hollywood-financed movie inspired by the U.S. invasion of Iraq and its attendant political controversy, South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone dispatched a squad of U.S. guerrillas -- all in marionette form -- to take down an Axis of Evil dictator and, in the process, slaughter the real villains of the piece: a bunch of self-important celebrities who had publicly opposed the U.S. policy. One of these stars is Matt Damon, who is portrayed as such an idiot that all his dialogue consists of is his grinning stupidly while saying, "Matt Damon!" The puppet Damon ends up dead, his head snapped by a Team America hero. The real Matt Damon didn't fare much better as the star of the new Green Zone: he went looking for the truth about Iraq's WMDs, and got blown up by the IED of public indifference.
Thanks Haiku Guy.

Article disses Matt Damon using Team America. LOL

it must really suck to have Damons propaganda art film trumped by a pathetic special effects vehicle that is not even worth 1 star.

Yet another self-important revisionist anti-Iraq War movie bombs.

Were there any self-important revisionist anti-Vietnam War movies back in the day?
