There are now so many subs in the ocean that it represents a naval buildup not seen since just prior to World War I, with its battleships.

33 nations are believed to have submarine warships. China and the US alone both have about 65-70 each. Many other nations have purchased very quiet diesel electric boats that represent a serious threat to surface ships.

This suggests that there is soon going to be a major push for submarine killing technologies.

Ya mean “submarine finding” technology don’t ya?
After all, killing subs is the easy part of ASW - finding ‘em is the hard part.

Hold on Russia is launching a 17 year old sub and this is worrisome? Do you work for Northrup Grumman or something?

“very quiet diesel”
This term is like saying “conservative democrat”

We have the best fleet money can buy and we some are worried about cheap diesel electric boats. I guess these people have never heard of SOSUS. It is so sensitive it can hear a whale fart.
