Since they are disconnecting achievement from college admission status, one day a college degree will cease to be the “ticket” to a good job. We will go back to the original formula that HARD WORK makes you successful. Somewhere along the way that got perverted into this notion that a college degree is what makes you successful. The degree has come to be viewed as the CAUSE of success, when the truth is, or rather used to be, that the same achievement, hard work orientation it took to get a college degree, served the person well and led to success in life. All of this diversity stuff is going to make college meaningless, much as those trophies that are handed out to EVERYONE.

considering the drivel taught at ‘leading universities’, I already consider an advanced degree about as worthless as used TP.

You are correct. We are very near a tipping point where a BA or BS in non-tech fields is equal to a High School diploma. Once having a degree meant you were a good prospect because it took commitment. Now they offer a BA or BS in fields of study that are just stupid. Who would you hire the person with a degree in Progressive Comteporary Reed Manipulation or Business Management? We are dumbing down the system. Some third world schools are more competitive and have serious curriculum.
