NO. I will not lay off an anti-gun zealot like Mitt Romney. His views put me, my wife, and my daughter at risk. He wants us defenseless and I will NOT accept that. You want us to lay off? When he resigns, retires or drops dead of a heart attack, then we’ll stop. Until then, NO.

Thank you for demonstrating the utter foolishness of the current anti-Romney mania here on FR.

First of all, there is no post for him to resign from, as he does not now hold one.... Surprised you didn't know that... it was in all the papers....

Secondly, I am not a Romney fan, but I realize there will be no opportunity to vote for or against him for about another two years, and we have another huge, clear and present problem, RIGHT NOW.

All the time, effort and mental masturbation about Romney are diverting us from the real problem. The real problem is Obama and his cohorts in the Senate and House about to pass, or decree by fiat, a program that will make Americans slaves to big government forever.

It's called Obamacare, and it is near, RIGHT NOW.

Worrying about Romney is like worrying about the 5000 miles of tread life left on our car tires, while the gas gauge is 1 inch below Empty!

Let's stop arranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Let's all concentrate on what is happening to us right now, what is the huge danger, RIGHT NOW, and worry about the 2012 primaries, in, let’s say, in 2011.

Let's put all our energies on solving the huge 2010 problem.... RIGHT NOW!

If we do not, Romney may not be a problem, because there may not be any elections in 2012!

Unrelated!

We also need to stave off any future constitutional crisis, thus Mitt gets no pass here.

I agree. It’s better to have no mask. Crap or evil dressed up is worse than au naturel.

A Request of Personal Privilege: We Are In A Huge Constitutional Crisis. Could We Layoff The Romney-Bashing For A While?

Ummmm.

No.

I have never bashed Romney. I do not care about him one way or the other.

I do care about twits giving "thinking orders." Without the brains to figure out that there must be a connection made between that and some undefined "Constitutional" crisis.

Maybe a short course in Communications 101 s in order.

What’s your problem - can’t answers questions nor stand behind what you believe; yet you want others to ‘Just stop bashing Romney’ because ‘you’ think it’s a good idea but have no reason why. FOCUS on that!

“Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.”

There's a problem here, Romney's history clearly shows he is NOT a republican.

Organizing tea parties and like events.

Escorting hundreds of angry citizens to the hallowed halls of congress

Writing witty soundbites for usually dull Conservative Congressmen.

>>>>>If Ronald Reagan were alive today, and in either the California governor's office or the White House, this crowd would be ranting that he is a RINO too.

Horseshit!!!

I've told you this before, Mitt Romney is no Ronald Reagan. Obviously, you'll never learn that taking cheap pot shots at Reagan does not make Romney look better.

Here are some facts. Reagan was firmly in the prolife camp and clearly did not favor abortion on demand, personally or as a matter of public policy. The 1967 Therapeutic Abortion Act that Reagan signed into law as Governor of California, DID NOT grant abortions on demand. It limited abortions to substantial risk that would gravely impair the health of the mother, plus exceptions for rape and incest. Problems came about when California's liberal medical community saw this new law as a way to promote abortion on demand and pervert the system through abuse and fraud.

The Mulford Act did not stop Californians from buying firearms. Period! It was designed to stop the Black Panthers from intimidating people by flashing loaded firearms in public venues. It probably would have survived a Reagan veto, possibly with more sweeping powers and regulations.

There were three components to the IRCA of 1986. 1. employer sanctions with up to a million dollar fine and other measures to increase enforcement of the immigration laws; 2. stronger border policies and 3. legalization/amnesty. If the first two parts had been enforced and not had its funding gutted by Ted Kennedy, we wouldn't have the serious problems that exist today with illegal immigration and the 15-20 million illegal aliens living in the US.

Lastly, the POTUS does not control the purse strings. The House controls funding of the government. You seem to forget that every one of Reagan's budgets was DOA.

Truth is, when Reagan left office federal spending as a percentage of GDP was down 1%, welfare state spending as a percentage of the annual budget was down 4%, the tax code was simplified, federal taxes were reduced to 28%, from 70% and Americans received a 25% across the board tax rate cut.

To even suggest Reagan was a Rino, in any way, shape or form, shows a serious mental deficiency. Exceptions for malcontents considered.

To even suggest Reagan was a Rino, in any way, shape or form, shows a serious mental deficiency.

To even suggest that is what I said or implied shows, at minimum, a serious lack of reading comprehension on your part. Nor did I compare Romney and Reagan whatsoever.

I said the opposite regarding the RINO epithet. Reagan was a great, great man, but many current FReepers would consider him a RINO if he were alive and either running for, or was in office today. If you are blind to this particular truth, then there is go getting through to you.

Far too many people do not look at the nuances -- the gray area -- such as that which you explained about Reagan's actions. Instead, if his name was not used and many people on the political Right were told that a candidate:

1. Signed pro-abortion legislation into law;

2. Signed gun control legislation into law;

3. Signed a genuine amnesty for illegal aliens;

4. Saw the government budget quadruple on his watch

...such candidate would be labled a RINO and would be reviled by the Right, as reprsented here on FR. You know it, and I know it, and so does anyone who is honest and not a totally blind ideologue.

Alex Beam: “In truth, Ronald Reagan
and Mitt Romney have as much in common
as Cardinal O’Malley and Conan O’Brien.
Deservedly or not, Reagan earned a reputation for constancy.
Once he turned against communism, he opposed it big-time.
…. And our former governor? Inconstancy, thy name is Mitt!
A woman’s right to choose? Yes! No! Yes!
Are we in Massachusetts? Yes! Are we in Iowa? No!
Are we on TV? Whatever!”

Just buy my book
and ignore what we have done.
Now go back and play with you (sic) bananas.”

Um... Romney holds position of political advisor to a couple of people including Bloomberg. So, yes, he does hold a position. He and his ilk need to go away.

Romney is in the thick of things even if he isn’t in an elected office. He’s causing a lot of problems and frankly, we are sick of it. I guess you didn’t know that Romney’s health care system was the foundation for what Obama is trying now did you? Of course, Obama took a POS law and perverted it even further.

Oh, and this isn’t taking away from my efforts to fight the health care bill. I can do more than one thing at a time.

LOL There you go again. You're nothing but a Reagan revisionist and a RomneyBot to boot.

Not being satisfied with taking cheap pot shots at the Reagan legacy once, you come back and repeat your falsehoods and half truths about a great American who actually did some real good things for America. Not the first time you've maligned Reagan and my sens eis, it won't be the last time either. Its a habit with you. Well, defending Reagan with the detailed historic facts is a habit of mine.

One more time. Your attempts to undermine the Reagan legacy to make Romney look better does not work. Never has, never will. Period!

I agree. For many here, Reagan would not be unacceptable due to his compromises associations. Truth is, Reagan was the greatest President in the last century, but he didn't get elected till the 2nd try, as he had to overcome more moderate positions he previously had. The GOP was against him the first go round for stated reasons.

People are human, people change. When they do change, let's accept them and build them up, not tear them down.

Nothing more than everyone else! Doing right in one area DOESN’T mean one stops in doing right and in any other area - exposing Romney. We’ll squash this conman attempts at rewriting himself to run for president.

All you are capable of is seeing the present and deal with that - a wise man sees a conman positioning himself for a future event.

It’s like 2008 - most voters were ‘only’ focused on no more Bush and were swept away by the con man! And that is what you WANT again and you are using FR to push that agenda!!

Wisen up! Conservatives here are already wise to you and your attempt of wanting conservatives to look only at one issue and keeping their head in the sand while another con man is doing his dirty deeds! The con man has his pawns!
