The tea party's least favorite Republicans (McCain tops the list)
Politico ^ | 2010-03-13 | Kenneth P. Vogel

The tea party movement exploded onto the political scene in 2009 as a backlash to the agenda pushed by President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats, but a little more than a year later, a POLITICO survey found tea party activists unhappy with many of the biggest names in the Republican Party.

And that could complicate GOP plans to harness the energy of the tea parties as they head into the November midterm elections with hopes of rearranging the balance of power in Washington.

In a survey of more than three dozen grass-roots tea party leaders from 29 states, the party’s 2008 presidential nominee, Sen. John McCain, was the Republican most cited as a disappointment. Asked which three national Republicans they were most unhappy with, McCain was named by 18 respondents.

Other congressional Republicans considered disappointments included moderate-leaning Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine, as well as Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California.

Palin is showing a serious disconnect with Conservatives by supporting McAmnesty.

I really think that Palin is caught between a rock and hard place. She's damned is she does, and damned if she doesn't. Right now, I think she is acting out of a sense of loyalty, and just doing what she has to do. I'm going to give the woman a pass on this one.

Right now, I think she is acting out of a sense of loyalty, and just doing what she has to do.

That maybe but if so means she is choosing party over principle. That's not an endearing trait, especially for Conservatives given that the OP(formerly the GOP) over the years has incrementally accepted socialism to expand the voter base.

I'm going to give the woman a pass on this one.

I'm going to hold her feet to the conservative fire as I do all other politicians otherwise it becomes a slippery slope. If you give a pass to one then other people will say you should do the same for my favorite politician.

"After all for whatever reason McCain did pick her for his veep spot"

Only after he was told he couldn't have his first choice of flaming socialist LIEberman.

Your point here is a good one.

But I suspect Palin's "support" for McCain is personal not political.

Choosing party over principle is not worth respecting.

You missed the point on this one. But you seem a reasonable fellow so I will give it another shot.

She chose not party but graciousness over principle and I am suggesting that this is worthy of at least consideration for respect.

Since when are facts characterized as daggers? Is Governor Palin actively campaigning for Amnesty McCain or not? I know truth hurts!

1. Juan McCain

2. Lindsey Graham

3. Richard Lugar (under the radar RINO)

Can’t think of others that ‘measure up’ to those three.

Mitt RomneyCARE is the Queen of all RINOs.

“The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.

The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.”
- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006

"In 2006, while Romney was chairman of the National Republican
Governors Association - a group dedicated to electing more
Republican governors - his own hand-picked Republican successor
as governor lost badly to the Democrat, despite the fact that Republicans
have held the governorship in Massachusetts since 1990. Romney largely
ignored the Massachusetts elections and spent most of the time
during the campaign out of state building his presidential campaign.
He came back and publicly campaigned for the Republican candidate
the day before the general election!
“Locally, this is a rebuke to Mitt Romney and checking out within six months
after being elected and having accomplished almost nothing,”

[Jim] Rappaport [former chairman of the state Republican Party]."
- Boston Globe, 11/8/2006

"Governor Mitt Romney, who touts his conservative credentials to out-of-state Republicans,
has passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced
,
instead tapping registered Democrats or independents -- including two gay lawyers who
have supported expanded same-sex rights, a Globe review of the nominations has found.
Of the 36 people Romney named to be judges or clerk magistrates, 23 are either registered Democrats
or unenrolled voters who have made multiple contributions to Democratic politicians
or who voted in Democratic primaries, state and local records show.
In all, he has nominated nine registered Republicans, 13 unenrolled voters,
and 14 registered Democrats."
- Boston Globe 7/25/2005

Romney Rewards one of the State's Leading Anti-Marriage Attorneys by Making him a Judge
Romney told the U.S. Senate on June 22, 2004, that the "real threat to the States is not the
constitutional amendment process, in which the states participate,
but activist judges who disregard the law and redefine marriage . . ."
Romney sounds tough but yet he had no qualms advancing the legal career of one
of the leading anti-marriage attorneys.
He nominated Stephen Abany to a District Court.
Abany has been a key player in the Massachusetts Lesbian and Gay Bar Association which,
in its own words, is "dedicated to ensuring that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision
on marriage equality is upheld, and that any anti-gay amendment or legislation is defeated."
- U.S. Senate testimony by Gov. Mitt Romney, 6/22/2004 P>

"Romney announces he won't fill judicial vacancies before term ends
Despite his rhetoric about judicial activism, Romney announced that
he won't fill all the remaining vacancies during his term - but instead
leave them for his liberal Democrat successor!

Governor Mitt Romney pledged yesterday not to make a flurry of lame-duck
judicial appointments in the final days of his administration . . . David Yas,
editor of Lawyers Weekly, said Romney is "bucking tradition" by resisting the urge to
fill all remaining judgeships. "It is a tradition for governors to use that power to appoint judges
aggressively in the waning moments of their administration," Yas said.
He added that Romney has been criticized for failing to make judicial appointments.
"The legal community has consistently criticized him for not filling open seats quickly enough
and being a little too painstaking in the process and being dismissive of the input of the
Judicial Nominating Commission," Yas said.

You missed the point on this one.

My point was on the mark. It's disingenuous for Palin to proclaim she is a conservative while supporting a candidate who votes with socialists on an overwhelming majority of the issues.

She chose not party but graciousness over principle and I am suggesting that this is worthy of at least consideration for respect

True and McAmnesty was very gracious to flaming socialist BO/BS, which is why McAmnesty lost. Palin should have learned a lesson from trying to appease socialists but she is going down the same path as McAmnesty. I make no apologies for standing firm on Conservative principles.

The socialists have been holding strong on their beliefs for decades. They never compromise or reach out to the other side as the OP has done consistently. It is the reason they control the White House and Congress. Conservatives need to steal a page out of the socialist playbook and take the same attitude. That won't occur until people stop cow towing to socialist sympathizers like McAmnesty and those who support him.

You were asked by several FReepers for examples of religious bigotry
but each time you hid ... like Mitt RomneyCARE.
So far, we also note that only Peter Horry and your Legion of RomneyBOTs
have used someone’s religion for an his/their attacks.

Do you have an example? Or apologize .. and go away.

Mitt RomneyCARE is the Queen of all RINOs.

Your opinion and nothing more. I only recognize RINOs who've proven themselves on the national political scene. Many famous politicians have adopted different positions when moving from state to national politics. Just reality.

Not my opinion, RomneyBOT.

It is your Master's words.

Mitt RomneyCARE (D, RINO): "I'm not running as the Republican view
or a continuation of Republican values.
That's not what brings me to the race.

(Backstabber Romney Video, accessed 9/19/07)

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldn’t make any sense at all.""

--  President Ronald Reagan

Mitt RomneyCARE (D, RINO): ”I'm very clear I think, to the people across the Commonwealth
my "R" didn't stand so much for Republican as it does for reform.
"
(Video, accessed 9/19/07)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people.
It must represent certain fundamental beliefs
which must not be compromised to political expediency
or simply to swell its numbers."

--  President Ronald Reagan

Not my opinion, RomneyBOT.

It is your Master's words.

Mitt RomneyCARE (D, Carpetbagger): “I Was For The Obama Bailout
...... Before I Was Against It”

“Romney praises Obama
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney praised President Obama
at a GOP fundraising dinner Wednesday ..
"I also think it's important for us to nod to the president when he's right," Romney said....
Romney, who spoke at a dinner for the National Republican Senatorial Committee,
said he's pleased with the president's plans to "finish the job" in Iraq and Afghanistan
-- lines that drew applause from the partisan audience. He also applauded the president
for standing up to the auto industry.
"I hope he continues to be tough ....The former businessman even offered faint praise for
Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, saying that after a series of initial missteps,
"I think he's finally getting close to the right answer."
