Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., took the national stage last month as he cut down Democratic health care plans point by point. If the GOP should win back the House In November, Ryan will become chairman of the House Budget Committee. And he has lots of ideas. He recently updated his "Roadmap for America's Future" to address many issues, including the budget deficit, entitlement programs, the tax system and health care.
IBD recently sat down with Ryan to discuss his ideas. In Part One he discusses ObamaCare's flaws and how his "Roadmap" would improve our health care system.
IBD: President Obama said his overhaul will "bring greater competition, choice, savings and efficiencies to our health care system."
Ryan: It will do the opposite of all three of those. It will mean less competition and less choice because it narrows the options consumers will have to get health insurance. .. At the end of the day you'll have a few big insurers selling different versions of the same color. With the kinds of mandates and rules they impose on insurers, the small and medium-sized insurance companies simply can't compete because they don't have the economies of scale. What you'll simply have are these handful of really large insurers simply becoming claims processors for federally run health insurance.
One example. There is a medium-sized insurer in Milwaukee that has 2,200 employees, 1,600 in Milwaukee. They sell in the individual market and they have the biggest share of policies with health savings accounts. If this bill becomes law, they'll have to close because of the rules and regulations. ..

The more I see of Ryan the more I like. I’m a bit surprised that his name isn’t bandied about more for Pres for ‘12, especially after that performance at the health summit. He took Obama to school!
A Congressman is not going to win the Presidency guys, c'mon now.
Ryan appears to be the real deal. No sign of him sucking up to Juan McCain either.
This decades version of Newt and his Contract for America
Hillsdale College newsmag had a very nice article by Ryan also....
We need guys in Congress who will tell the Obama’s of the world point by point that he is wrong.....
much unlike the Lindsay Grahams & Johahn McCains of the world.....
I like Ryan a lot. But don’t forget that he was a spokesman for TARP. And that is a hell of a mark.
Check out Hugh Hewitt website. He has a email system to send letters to Blue Dogs.
