Torres opens Bridgeport headquarters for Congress campaign Written by Brad Durrell Thursday, 11 March 2010 18:03
Rick Torres, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Congress, has opened a campaign headquarters at 2986 Fairfield Ave. in Bridgeport.
Torres, joined by supporters at the official opening, said the headquarters marks the beginning of a new stage for his campaign.
"The opening of this office demonstrates how serious I am about beating Jim Himes in November, said Torres, who lives in Black Rock and owns the Harborview Market in the neighborhood.
Bridgeport will be the battleground this election just as it has always been, and I am the only Republican candidate who is a native of Bridgeport with a natural base of support here, he said.
Another Republican candidate in the race, former state Sen. Rob Russo, also lives in Bridgeport. There are six GOP candidates hoping to challenge freshman Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Himes in the fall.
Torres is a former city Republican Town Committee chairman who was the partys unsuccessful nominee for mayor in 2003.
That’s like basing the Sarah Palin campaign on 125th street in Harlem - strange.
Fairfield Ave is a residential area near the Fairfield, Connecticut town border. There are five ( or six ?) candidates. One of them is the clear frontrunner for the nomination.
Torres is decent conservative and I will refrain from negative critiquing on a day when he has such an announcement. If he keeps Bprt delegates away from RINO liberal Russo, then God bless him!
BTTT
It REALLY helps folks like me that browse through the “Everything” category on FR when the subject lines also indicate what State is involved. .....There’s more than one city in the US with the name Bridgeport.
That said.... I wish the GOP candidate Torres the best of luck!
Never mind Bridgeport the Entire State of Ct. Is Controlled by Democrats ,Veto Proof Majorities in Both the House and Senate little wonder this State is a Cesspool of Corruption
Rick is a lifetime Bridgeport resident. He owns a business just down the road. Its only fitting that the HQ is here!
Rick Torres, a Republican running in the 4th District against incumbent Democrat Jim Himes, took Himes to task for his support of the health care bill...
