I always draw back to the time when under George Ryan (IL) licenses were being sold via bribes to truckers, as I remember one death occurred in Wis from an accident through his secretary. This resulted in 6 children dying in Wis. by such an illegal license holder. Seventy-nine former state officials, lobbyists,and others were charged in the investigation, with some 76 convicted for racketeering, bribery, extortion, money laundering and tax fraud..the usual.
Ryan [R] was up for the Nobel for commuting the death penalty in 156 cases in .."demon of error" makes the state's death penalty process immoral", he said. (verdicts were questioned in many cases for years-an acknowledged mess)..course now like most governors in Illinois he is in jail. He was preparing to be greeted by "friendlies"? :)
