I don’t know any republican who elevated him to a “darling”, much less a “republican darling”.
We merely pointed out that of all the democrats who are embroiled in scandal, it seemed odd that the only one being driven out was a guy who couldn’t be convinced to change his no vote to a yes vote.
Of course, there was Beck, but he’s hardly a republican.

The republicans didn’t do that. The Democrats just said they did (I think it was very wishful thinking), but the repubs. never bit that carrot. It was part of a dem strategy that failed. Thank goodness. (Sorry if I didn’t make it clear.)
