SANTIAGO, Chile A strong earthquake shook Chile Thursday, shortly before Sebastian Pinera was to be sworn in as president. The aftershock reached a 7.2-magnitude according to the United States Geological Survey.

Having some personal experience with these, I can assure you they both feel the same.
The exact definition is somewhat fuzzy.

If Free Republic has a "lighten up" button, I would suggest that you push it.
Someone pushing an agenda is not going to limit themselves to one line. So unless you have seen this poster "push an agenda" elsewhere, why don't you want until the poster actually says something substantial?
One person posts a short, innoculous statement. Another then accuses the poster of pushing an agenda and starts name-calling. Which action represents the actions of a "moron"?
Right after the next round of mudslides, but before the locusts and wildfires.....
It’s a catch-22.
Oh, I hope you stay safe. Is there anything left of Chile now? Seems all will be gone soon. How in the world can the people there exist with these continual quakes and the damage? It must be horrible.
Be safe
I kinda thought that’s why you did. No worries!
A very LARGE after shock from the 8.8.
Yeah, I know that. You’re using the news to pick a fight, to push an agenda.
I’m not a member of either camp, and when I read a news thread, I like to not have to read personal agenda battles.
No wonder the people are afraid to go indoors to sleep.
God help Chile. It is a very civilized and Christian nation.
Thanks so very much, Godzilla — isn’t that just amazing.....
Now that's gonna leave a mark.
I don't know, and I know that aftershocks can be just as strong or stronger than the original, but I think it must have to do with where the epicenter is located. If it's a substantial distance from the first one, it may be considered a separate quake.
Anywhere else, 7.2 would be a major earthquake, not an “aftershock.”
Good to know that Santiago is up to code.
Glad youare safe, my FRiend.
We don't get locusts out here... Unless you count the ones on welfare. However, it should be a nice fire season this year. We've had lots of rain and the pretty, green hills ought to go up like napalm once they've dried a bit.
Like the one you are currently engaged in? =)
Your original point was correct, however.
No, nope -- it's obvious that you're just trying to deflect attention from the infamous Karl Rove Earthquake Machine.
I often wonder how they differentiate between “aftershocks” and new quakes.
I just read the posts that accumulated while I was typing my response to you. I’m going to take my own advice and lighten up. I apologize for calling you out on this. I can see why you are concerned about someone pushing an agenda. I’m not sure the calling them “morons” is justified, though, but the concern about thread highjacking is appropriate.
