A Swedish cartoonist whose controversial image of the Prophet Muhammad led to a series of death threats said today that he had secured his property with a homemade panic room and booby-trapped artwork.

The latest threat to Lars Vilks emerged yesterday when seven people were arrested in Ireland accused of plotting to kill the 63-year-old artist.

Mr Vilks responded by saying that he was ready for them. “If something happens, I know exactly what to do,” he said.

His home in southern Sweden now contains a barbed-wire sculpture that could electrocute potential intruders, a secure space to hide in and an axe which will allow him “to chop down” anyone breaking in through his windows.

We have to listen to this crap from a religion that snuffs out all others and constantly complains about everything we say and do which is none of their damn business.

Simple fact, sorry but Mohammed was not a prophet of God.

Is he armed or is Sweden “too civilized” to permit that?

I think he’s making an invitation? I know if I invested in a statue that would shock someone trying to kill me I’d want to see if it worked.

Sounds like old Lars needs to enlist the services of Mr. Colt, Mr. Ruger, Mr. Beretta or all of the above to ensure his safety. Oh wait, he lives in a country where you’re supposed to rely on the police to come and rescue you. Sorry, my mistake.

Gun ownership is high in Scandanavia, but as with much of Europe (with the exception of the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Slovakia amongst others) giving ‘self-defence’ as a reason will not get you a licence. If you give ‘hobby’ as a reason, you will generally get a licence, as long as you don’t have a criminal record.
Basically, if you want a gun for self defence, you have to give another reason to appease the liberal policy making morons. He may well have a gun, but despite everything else he has said about his home security, he may not be stupid enough to publicly proclaim he has a gun for self-defence, lest the local police yank his permit at the behest of leftist idiots who carry an altogether depressingly powerful influence in most western countries...

My question would be that if this person is really in fear of his life, why would he give away his secrets to survive?
