The health care reform bill passed by the Senate on Christmas Eve appears to be dead on arrival in the House as seven Democratic opponents of abortion have joined a growing list of lawmakers who plan to vote against the legislation, Fox News has learned.

They did not foresee losing a senate seat in Mass. If not for that little detail, they would have gone to conference, added more pork, and still would have 60 votes in the senate.
Will do!
Phone, e-mail and yell,
Whether doggies are Red, White or Blue,
Then we'll barge through the dooor,
And we'll sit on the floooor,
Till they join the Tea Party too!
I LOVE it !!!!

AP:
WASHINGTON A top House Democrat says the leadership may be able to pass President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul without resolving a dispute over abortion.
Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman said Thursday that the leadership will try to secure the necessary 216 votes to pass the bill without reworking the divisive abortion provision.
Michigan Democratic Rep. Bart Stupak has said that he has about a dozen votes against the bill unless the language is toughened in restricting federal dollars for abortion. But leaders question whether the members of his group will stick together.
Waxman, a California Democrat, said that “many of the pro-life members are going to support passage of the health care bill.”
+++++++++++++
I think Waxman is either bluffing or is delusional.
Of course. No Speaker makes her caucus make a difficult vote if he or she doesn’t have the votes.
Until Pelosi schedules a vote, she ain’t got the votes. And the Waxman piece today is going to anger a lot of pro-lifers.
Of course with the Slaughter rule they’re considering, they may not have to actually vote on the bill!!! We’ll just count the vote on the rule as a vote for this health care bill.
And the Senate is never to amend their Bill and add anti-abortion language.
Not going to happen.
The problem was always going to be over reconciling both Bills and getting them past again.
They had an overwhelming majority in the House and a 60 vote majority in the Senate-ofcourse they were going to get Bills past out of them.
That is why they rushed the process, to get the final reconciliation done and the final vote done and signed into law.
