WXYZ ^ | 03/10/10 | Various

Posted on 03/10/2010 12:06:34 PM PST by Kieri

Excerpt:

Monica Conyers has just been sentenced to 37 months in prison. She also received 2 years of supervised probation. Just before sentencing, Conyers screamed "If they have their tapes, I have my tapes too. I taped Rayford, I taped Riddle. You'll be fair to me or I want to withdraw my plea."

She also yelled, "What about my children? They did nothing to cause this. All I did was try to help someone I fired."

It’s like the gag at the end of every episode of the TV show Police Squad.

“Looks like Monica will be up in Statesville prison...along with Sharpe James, Kwame Kilpatrick, Sheila Dixon, and William Jefferson.”

In this kind of case where someone loses the contract because of corruption, the corrupt official(s) should have their assets liquidated and the assest should be under the control of the party which was cheated out of the contract.

Former freeper Hillary’sLovelyLegs ran against Cheeks some years back. Got trounced, as one might expect, but she had support from surprising corners. I miss her around here.

I think these were federal charges. If so, I think she has to serve 85% of the sentence.

My intuition is that you are correct on both counts. The federal government generally prosecutes corruption by state and local government officials under federal statutes. The theory behind that is that the state and local governments could not justly indict, prosecute, and try one of their own, so the "honest" feds have to step in to do the job.

Here she is again, with her expensive Louie Vuitton purse (probably cost about $1,000.00.)

In Detroit? Nope won’t help Republicans a bit. Detroit is majority black and Democrat. It’s one of the most segregated areas in the US with a black urban core and what used to be lilly white suburbs. The city proper has been gutted of its wealth beginning with Coleman Young.

The suburbs used to be conservative Democrat and Republican but have gotten more leftist as those that could leave Detroit proper have left and brought their destructive voting habits with them. The conservatives are pushing further out and away into areas like Livingston Co to escape. I grew up in the western suburbs and now my family lives by Howell.

I think is amazing that John Conyer’s wife would be getting 37 months. Guess being his wife dosen’t help much.

Sick, sick, sick; how bad are these people? And John Conyers. . .a 'man for all Muslims' and his wife. No large print headlines on this one.

But then, nothing really extraordinary here - when you think about it.

Well, seeing as her husband is chairman of the House Judiciary committee, maybe we'll be seeing new rules on conjugal visits in Federalville.

Great news. Detroit, drop dead!

how is it that these “ruling class” losers ever get ensconced in their roles as kleptocrats? arrogant asses. all of them should go to prison. all of them should be stripped of any semblance of dignity and humiliated in the public square.

I’m sure there’s lots of other crimes that “woman” has committed.

I suspect thats why she quickly plead guilty so as to prevent any further investigations into her corruption.....

That’s encouraging. Someone should post the youtube clip of her berating the chairman of the city council. Unbelievable...unless your last name is Conyers.
