I thought they’d be higher. Not bad. Now to talk my husband into it. haha I’m the one who always wants the new audio/video equipment and he is the one to always say wait for the price to come down.
LOL...wanna get married?
Heh, only kidding. My wife and I just had one of the few fights of our marriage about three weeks ago, over...
...a home theater system...of all things. (Granted, most people wouldn’t characterize it as a fight, but...that is just us)
It is funny, I don’t even watch television. At all. She watches all the television, though I do watch a lot of movies. Last summer, our 15 year old television died.
Since then, we have been using a little 18 inch LCD as our television, and have been watching movies together on my laptop.
She asked me how much it would take to get a nice system, soooo....I told her $5000. She told me to budget $5000 do research, and get some quotes.
Which I dutifully did.
But I took too long. I researched for about two months (because I didn’t know jacksquat about LCD, Plasma, HDMI or anything else, so I had to learn) and just as I was ready to pull the trigger and give her the quote, she said (for an unknown reason) “Let’s hold off for now.”
Well...okay.
Then we had another talk in January, and she said to get two quotes, one for $3000 and one for $5000. Which I did (I want to replace all of our stuff with HDMI capable, get a 55-60 inch unit, etc)
I had decided to get a Samsung, and when I took her over to see the actual unit, she was very negative about everything associated with it, which puzzled me completely.
We had words (nothing bad...to an observer, we just looked like we were discussing cat barf on the rug or something, I am sure) but for us, we don’t often go there.
LOL...needless to say, I wrote her a letter, because she deals better with having time to read and absorb, and I can convey myself better in that medium too, and left it for her.
When I came home that night, she was gone, and there was a note with a check from her personal account with instructions to buy whatever I wanted with it...and it was an enormous amount of money, more than twice what I had even considered spending on a home theater system.
Needless to say, I tore that check up so fast my hands must have been a blur. I looked at it for a minute, wondering “Is this for real?” as visons of 80” top of the line whatevers drifted in front of my eyes...
Then I came to my senses and realized that taking that money would have been the equivalent of putting a gun to the head of my marriage and pulling the trigger. (This was accompanied by the sound of a large population of husbands out there groaning, slapping their foreheads with their hands, and wondering how someone like me has made it this far in life without stepping in front of a bus...)
Heck. I just realized she has her own schedule she is working on, and she just wasn’t ready for it. And I can continue to watch movies on my laptop until she is...:)
I realized just how stupid it was to make an issue of something like that, considering that I simply don’t watch television at all.
