I read drudge multiple times every day looking for new stuff. I used to sometimes leave drudge main page open as it was the last thing i checked to get my news before bedtime.
If you leave the page idle, it will auto-refresh as a given interval and the ad banners will rotate.
Over the past year, I have come to my desk the next morning, coffee in hand to grab some morning news only to find my AV had captured and squelched a virus in asp format.
I have to assume the code is embedded in one of the paid ad's that run on the drudge main page. Drudge surely has nothing to do with nor any knowledge of it, he just puts the banner on the page and takes the money.
I CAN tell you with 100% certainty that it has happened to me at least 1/2 dozen times.
Because of this, I don't leave the web page idle anymore at night. I haven't had a virus hit on the page for many months now, but I assume my page refreshes now are 90% less than they used to be while it refreshed for 8 hours while i slept.
I think the internal IT warning to staffers is legit and has little to do with politics.
The Drudge Report just said for everyone to avoid the Senate...The virus of treason is spreading very fast there and will spare no American.
WELL ISN’T THIS INTERESTING......PING!!!

I've seen problems that came from ads on Drudge. And by the way, this story is nothing new...

But to also keep things totally honest, other popular web sites have had similar issues with their ad servers and they weren't outright banned. They could very well have blocked traffic from the ad server... this has the stink of censorship all over it.
Well, I never get any viruses from the DRUDGE REPORT.
...a computer virus is NOT what they are worried about...
These democrats are amazing... I only get only tacker block on drudge..
