I am also researching my family history and while it’s nice to have all that information on the census forms from years ago, I realize that some of the questions are ones that didn’t need to be answered, just as there are questions on the current census forms that we should refuse to answer. All that HAS to be answered are Names of all people residing in the residence and Ages. It’s nice to have parents place of birth, occupations etc. but that information has nothing to do with determining the US citizen population.

No - Names do not have to be supplied to Census takers/forms —

The word ‘Enumeration’ does not equate to Name - it means Number - a count - not name taking...

Very true. I was only commenting on how little help that particular census form is to genealogists. It has been interesting to see how other categories have been added through the years.
