River runs red in Colombia http://www.ksdk.com/news/watercooler/story.aspx?storyid=186888&catid=71 MEDELLIN, Colombia (RTV) -- People in Medellin, Colombia woke up to what looked like a bad Biblical omen Tuesday. The Medellin River was running red through the middle of town. Local officials suspect it's either a prank or someone illegally dumped ink or dye in the river. The head of the city's biggest environmental organization said whatever turned the river red doesn't appear to be toxic. Authorities are working to figure out what exactly was dumped and who dumped it.

Back in the day, the river in Rome, Georgia ran whatever color they were dying carpet in the mill that day. Smelled, too, vinegary.

There have been red rains before... something to do with atmospheric algae / fungi spores.

Authorities are working to figure out what exactly was dumped and who dumped it. Did it taste like raspberry Kool-Ade?
