Agree — try NOT to be in line for a refund — pay the bastards what you may owe at the very last second on 4/15 and be done with it. I have not gotten a tax refund in decades.

...and what happens if the people delay paying their taxes to the government?

And yet we hear that government employment at the state level is higher than its ever been. Government at every level is just about the only one hiring these days, and yet every state complains of not having enough employees to get the work done. They keep hiring too many chiefs and not enough Indians

Why do I get the feeling that idea would give the state politicians a coronary? From your keyboard to God's ears.

FREEDOM!Yes. I have your freedom swinging in my next tax return. Poseur.

Your best bet is to try and get a pretty good handle on the amount of taxes you’re going to owe during the next year, and adjust withholdings so that you are slightly under withheld. That way you’ll owe the state and Feds a little bit and you’ll never have to worry about not getting a refund.
Besides, why should you make these bozos an interest-free loan in the first place?

I’d take it. My property taxes are that high in addition to state tax. And I have a very modest ranch home on a small lot.

Another state, New York, is still considering whether they'll follow the likes of Hawaii and delay refund payments.Just try it, Hot Sheets...

If they can’t pay refunds it means they were taking more than they should have been...and spending it. Theft in my book since unlike a bank or store that can’t pay up so have to close, the government will still be there.
