I have read a number of posts noting the potential damage the citizen who chased the robbers might do.

Have you considered the potential damage the robbers might do if they were not stopped? They already demonstrated an indifference to the persons and property of innocent citizens. If they get away, they have been rewarded for their actions.

It seems likely to me that the potential for future damage is far more if the robbers get away than if a citizen pursues them.

When the citizens are actively involved in stopping crime, and cooperative with the authorities it becomes very difficult for criminals to continue committing crimes against persons.

Sure which is why I’ve said repeatedly he should have shot them while they were in his business. Having a pissed off poorly trained wannabe go chasing after armed criminals and engaging in gun battles on the street is not a low risk affair.

They’d likely steal again if not caught. Compared to a high speed accident likely involving a family or stray bullets on a crowded street that seems like the better of the options.

Citizens engaging in high speed chases and gun battles is a crime in most places. This guy must have connections because he would almost certainly have been arrested in Florida. One of they examples given to CCW holders by the State of Florida is a very similar case. Its an example of what NOT to do.
