Do you remember Reagan? He was very serious about his conservatism but funny and lighthearted. He wasn’t so self-important or image conscious that he’d be above something like this. He was an actor in some pretty cheesy movies and guest on a few silly talk shows and yet he became the best president in my lifetime. Palin appears on a couple talk shows (she has a book and is making about the same rounds other authors make...Romney being on Letterman comes to mind) and she’s not going to be taken seriously? Conservatism doesn’t always have to be prim and proper. Nor does one have to only appear on “certain” media outlets to be considered a serious contender with true conservative ideals. Why do people think we have to be so uptight all the time? No wonder we have a reputation for being uptight and prudish. Being able to be lighthearted, funny and graceful in different situations is a great quality too and she’s garnered curiosity in many people who see her as something more than the bubble-head the media portrayed her as.

Do we remember Bonzo? After he had acted opposite a chimp, he couldn’t possibly be a serious man. And I don’t remember Reagan having a 2 million copy bestseller under his belt before running for president.
