House Passes Resolution Calling Austin Attack ‘Terrorism’
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 03/03/2010 | Evan Perez

The House adopted a resolution labeling the Feb. 18 suicide plane attack in Austin, Texas, terrorism.

The resolution condemns the attack on a building that housed offices of the Internal Revenue Service, and it honors the IRS employee killed and other workers injured, as well as rescue workers.

The wording of the resolution is notable in light of the debate about why the Obama administration didn’t call the event a terrorist attack, in part because of the lack of connection to international terror groups such as al Qaeda.

The resolution passed H. Res. 1127 on a 408–2 vote, with “no” votes from GOP Reps. Ron Paul of Texas and Don Young of Alaska. The offices of Paul and Young didn’t respond to calls seeking comment.

Any of you Ron Paul supporters out there want to explain to me why Ron "The Loon" Paul would vote against this?

What constitutional grounds?

Anybody?

I live in Austin, and I don’t consider this a “terrorist” attack.... simply someone living in the US who is crazy and takes out his mental illness on the IRS because he doesn’t like the taxes.... who does?

I believe that Obamanation DC loved to call this a terrorist attack so they can “wash their hands” that others other than “islam” are terrorists and want to destroy us. I believe this is so stupid..... the Islamic terrorists have stated that they hate Christians and Jews and want Americans DEAD. The guy who lost it and flew his plane into the building was trying to get back at TAXES..... there is a huge difference!!

This is very dangerous. How can a nut case without belonging to some organization be called a “terrorist”? I don’t get it except that means that US will be even more terrorized by the central government.

The word has apparently lost all meaning.

I guess I could have qualified my question by stating in the "post racial" era or something, but I stand corrected.

You have it correct. It is the same philosophy of bowing to everyone including Mayors to hide his original bow to the house of Saud. He will now dictate all attacks are terrorism to hide the political and ideological attacks the muslims perpetrate on our soil. He is a total fail.

The Dems want to prove they are “tough” on terrorism, so they pick some guy who has it out for the IRS. But they didn’t get a resolution on the Fort Hood Islamic terrorist, and Obama was unable to identify the Christmas panty bomber as a terrorist, he was an isolated wack job. I am just disappointed that only two voted against this sham.

408 out of 410 representatives put politics over reality.

But if they didn't support this, their opponents in the coming election would have been able to say "He/She sided with the attacker when they voted not to condemn the attack and honor the victims - he/she is not worth re-electing."

A number of years back when I liven in Colorado, a guy went into a new development that was going up, hot-wired a bulldozer and drove it through a bunch of houses. I forget the details but I think he died in the ensuing police gunfire. Terrorism wasn’t even considered. It was just a guy who lost it on what he thought were developers destroying farm land. I tend to agree with you. There’s got to be some distinctions made when using the word terrorism.

The resolution is BS. It was a lone wacko that went off on the IRS.

If he was part of some group and got some outside help stealing an airplane or something like that, I might agree, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

There is some evidence that the Ft. Hood shooter had contact with some other muslims that may have encouraged or aided him. Completely different situation.

I don’t consider this a “terrorist” attack...I agree - this is a chance to add another white male to the one who blew up the Federal building years ago so we can claim that certainly not all terrorists are Muslim, we shouldn't profile middle-eastern males, etc etc - and besides he was mad at the government and therefore must have been a right-winger and this helps confirm our previous assertions that right-wingers are terrorists - one more such wacko white guy and we can proclaim that they're more dangerous than AlQueda (or whtever)......

Google “House passes resolution Ft. Hood terrorism

nada

only “House passes resolution honoring Fort Hood victims” nothing about terrorism.

but they have an agenda here. They have tried to spin that this guy - a wacko lib, was a ‘Tea Party” right wing terrorist. There is an evil agenda here, folks.

Meanwhile, our America hating pres is going to be funneling our monies to ‘Muslim predominant countries’ - to ‘young Muslims” -

this whole dog and pony show on the health care bill - 24/7 - has everyone’s eyes on his right hand, while with his left, he is turning us over to the worst enemy we've ever had...and he's going to bank roll them.

Below is some very alarming developments that pose much more harm than even the health bill - but no one is watching his left hand.

He's getting away with this because too many people are NOT LISTENING. Even in FB anymore. I have posted the links below on many threads here the last few days - either you're all mentally asleep or you don't give a rats rump. What's it going to take: Hearing the blaring loud speakers announcing “the call to prayer” 5 times a day from the hundreds of new mosques around the contry, seeing your daughters/granddaughters forced to wear head scarves or burkas?

Here's the information again. Don't trouble yourselves to read it if you don't want to - but if this isn't stopped NOW, you'll remember you knew - and took no action.

In addition, a letter from Hillary:

Hillary Clinton
Remarks at the U.S.-Islamic World Forum
Doha, Qatar
February 14, 2010

President Obama and I believe that education and innovation are the currency of this century. That's why he announced a new era of engagement with Muslim communities to expand educational opportunities, support entrepreneurs, and promote advances in science and technology.

Our goal is to identify excellent ideas and successful projects in Muslim communities and then invest in them, help to scale them up, and to connect innovators and entrepreneurs, so that they can support and enhance each others work.

We are creating a Global Technology and Innovation Fund, which we will launch this spring, that will provide hundreds of millions of dollars in capital to small and medium-sized businesses throughout the Middle East, Asia, and Africa . . .

We have to continue to expand and strengthen outreach to students. And that is why we have increased funding for educational exchange programs for Muslim students. NASA, our space program, has partnered with the Arab Youth Venture Foundation in Dubai to give Arab and American engineering students the chance to work together on NASA missions.

****************************

These are illegal acts - NOT the perogative of the Executive Office under our Separation of Powers - indeed, NASA and the Space Program are legally under the auspices of CONGRESS. The WH has no legal right to by-pass Congress on NASA.

and so the redistribution of money out of OUR pockets kicks into high gear. (and the redistribution of jobs - tens of thousands of Americans will loose their jobs - as the money and jobs are given to Muslims around the world...not to mention the technology to create several more Irans. And then the Caliphate?)

Obama stated his goal of redistribution before he was elected...it's the prime tenet of the Black Liberationists churches, one of which he sat in for 20 years.

We are dealing with America-hating, One World Gov’t driven ‘enemies within’, the likes of which we have never seen or imagined in the history of this country.

Here' your answer Fling, sad as it may be.....

This from a Fox news report shortly after the shootings: [exerpt]:

"The authorities have not ruled out terrorism in the shooting, but they said the preliminary evidence suggests that it wasn't.

Phares said he doesn't expect the shooting to be ruled an act of terrorism because he believes the Obama administration has made a political calculation to not fight a war on terror. He cited the administration's decision to substitute "Overseas Contingency Operation" for the "global war on terror."

"Had this occurred under the previous administration or any other previous administration, the natural position would have been America is under attack," he said. "It would have been a different posture. Now because a strategic decision has been made to disengage, our efforts will be suffering. They're not going to coin it as terrorism."

Scheuer said law enforcement officials have been loathe to rule the shooting an act of terrorism because "they're politically correct."

"Over the last 24 hours it appears this major was a very devout Muslim, and his pending deployment overseas put him in a position where he was going to be assisting in killing other Muslims," he said. "And that's a very big decision for a Muslim to do, not only killing another Muslim but killing on behalf of an infidel or a Christian."

Not a Ron Paul supporter here, but I would have voted against it also.

Calling it "terrorism", when we are still undecided on the Fort Hood attack is just plain wrong.

If a muslim of any description does it, it can't be terrorism, but if an ordinary American goes crazy, it is. That kind of thinking will get us killed.
