And CNN has been doing polls where over 50% believe the gubment is oppressive and a danger to freedom and liberty. If they are reporting numbers like that I imagine the real results are higher.
Why we didn't bomb that "newly minted cruise-missle destroyer" to little tiny bits is beyond me.
Perhaps the best thing to do would be to preemptively create memorials to the threatened US cities, listing the names of the Democrats who fought against ballistic missile defenses of any kind.
For example, one such memorial could read something like:
“In this place, and for many miles around, used to be the cities of Seattle and Tacoma, Washington, that were destroyed by a nuclear ballistic missile, at tremendous loss of life.
“This happened because, though means existed to defend all of America from such threats, there were politicians who steadfastly and stridently chose to oppose any such defenses. How they justified that to themselves is unimportant, compared to the millions of dead caused by their arrogance.
“Here is the listing of the names of those politicians, who enabled a bitter and hate filled enemy to make that attack unimpeded, that their descendants, allies and supporters never live down the shame and curse they have earned by their folly.”
I agree completely with the General. However, the actual implementation of the ABL needs work. The COIL technology it employs in not the best answer.

Airborne lasers are dangerous to the aspirations of this president.
As a proof of concept project it was successful.
But in operation for the system to catch a missile in the boost phase, the aircraft would have to be in the right place at the right time. Also I wonder how many ‘shots’ the chemical laser was good for before it would have to land and be refurbished.
