Ron Paul and the "Cujo" effect
Renew America ^ | 4 March 2010 | Paul Ibbetson

In the early 1980's Stephen King made all dogs a little more suspect with the horror novel Cujo. The story hinged around a more-than-loveable St. Bernard that contracted rabies while chasing a rabbit and became an unpredictable, crazed killing machine. A large portion of the novel and its well-created movie equivalent was centered on a mother and child as they fought to stay alive against the continuous attacks of the transformed-rabid dog. Among the thrills and chills of this story, one can pick out many sad parts to this tale. I have long thought that among the many losers of this story the dog Cujo got the worst end of the stick.

You see, Cujo, while depicted as evil and deadly, was not so; he simply had a "little crazy" in him. Unfortunately, that "little crazy," in the form of rabies, permeated his character and affected all the actions of the dog until his demise became the only reasonable solution. Heck, by mid-way through the story we were all praying that Cujo would die, and die quickly! In the end, unfortunately, a "little crazy" goes a long way and on that note, we transition easily to Ron Paul....

I know a lot of people on here think I'm hard on Ron Paul, but at least I've never compared him to a rabid dog!

“I know a lot of people on here think I’m hard on Ron Paul, but at least I’ve never compared him to a rabid dog!”

Very wise of you to avoid insulting rabid dogs.

People got tired of bashing Palin and Beck. McCain is always a popular target, my guess is Tancredo is in line.

If Cujo was roaming around Osama Bin Laden's camp we'd all think it was a good thing.

In this case, he's roaming around Washington in the halls of Congress.

Which makes me think we ought to tie a brandy barrel around Paul's neck as a form of bait.

There is a difference between Paul and Cujo- the former has complete control how his ‘story’ plays out. He chooses who to associate with and what beliefs to put front and center versus which others to keep more in the background. He is completely free to choose not to associate with Alex Jones (appearance on his show this week will make his 20 something appearance with him). If Lew Rockwell really did write all the racist and conspiratorial things in his newsletters (I doubt it considering the first person form and references in it) he could have chose to cut ties a long time ago. He could have chosen to put his economic principles at the forefront.

The difference is- Paul’s image and the way his little revolution is going is due based on the choices he made.

Cujo is just a fictitious dog.

It seems to be bash Ron Paul day on FR.

It's because we're all just a bunch of big-government RINOs who use the Constitution as toilet paper while opposing the Only True Patriot out there and while supporting illegal wars for oil in Iraqistan that heroic patriots like Adam Kokesh are opposing, all the while plotting to help the Federal Reserve put America on a fractional pyrite standard.

Romney gets his deserved share too. Those threads aren't much fun any more though because most of the Mythbots stay in hiding.
