The Daily Beast published a fairly interesting interview with Congressman Ron Paul today. I strongly recommend you read it: if you didnt think Paul was crazy before today, you will know better from now onwards. Quote:
Paul was quick to come to the defense of Medina, his former top campaign volunteer who lost yesterdays primary against Perry and Hutchison. Medina, who ran on the platform of abolishing private property taxes and the notion that Texas should be able to ignore unconstitutional federal laws, was surging in the polls before Glenn Beck asked her on his radio show if she was a 9/11 truther. She didnt disavow the possibility that the government had something to do with the attacks, and was quickly denounced by Beck. (The fastest way back to 4 percent. Holy cow, Beck said after hanging up with her.)
I think she was unfairly punished by it for those that read more into it, Paul said. He sort of set her up for that. At the same time, the followups, the people who wrote about it and just assumed she committed the greatest crime in the world: I think the reaction was every bit as a big of a problem as the question. Why would a question like that be asked in a governors race in Texas?
Dear Congressman, I am terribly sorry to be rather blunt, but here it goes: are you completely and utterly insane? Are you actually defending a Truther? And somehow you still expect us to take you seriously? Are you kidding me?

He defends a truther because he is a truther.
What does Medina believe about the Kennedy assassination. If she thinks the mafia was involved, it means she’s utterly, totally insane! I don’t want anyone who believes that there was more than a single lone gunman reducing my taxes!
No, I knew he was insane and have said so on numerous occasions. That often elicits straw-man arguments from Paulites.
Just another self-promoting newbie with a weird blog.
I’ve never taken him seriously.
Oh boy. now you’ve done it. The Ru Paul FReepers will be livid here, so put on your flame suit.
Ron Paul is the “Ernest T. Bass” of politics. An annoying little gnat. And there is no shaking his zombie followers back to their senses.
Name me a politician we SHOULD take seriously.
McCain and Graham.
The two true conservatives and the leaders of the GOP.
Folks in Rio Vista will soon realize that not one politician is trust worthy for any extended period of time.
Thus, limiting the term of office is the only real solution.
“The Ru Paul FReepers will be livid here, so put on your flame suit.”
No way. All of them are in the back room down at IHOP. They will be out shortly to announce that Ron Paul has won The Republicans for Strawberry Syrup strawpoll.
LOL. Good one.
Upon reflection I would say we should take Barry seriously, and fight him every step of the way.
Well said. There just is no hope for the Paulie WalNUTS.
There seems to be an absolute law of entropy that effects every pol that takes office. They all drift or gallop to the left. Cripes, even Barry Goldwater ended up a RINO at the end of his life.
You would think so.
But right now the two conservatives are working on other issues like Amnesty, Global Warming and getting chewable vitamins off the street.
LOL!
To the headline: when should he have ever been taken seriously.
I never took him seriously.
