I have designated myself an organ donor on my driver’s license for twenty-five or more years. But stories like this and other things that are just in the air have led me to decide to remove the organ donor designation from my license at the next renewal later this year.

I’ll never advise my children to do what I did many years ago and register in the marrow donor program. Who knows what might happen if you happen to match a drunken congressman who needs a liver?

Me, too, I had designated myself as an organ donor on my driver’s license for the past twenty-five or more years. Yet after learning that the body has to be alive for organs to be donated and also having little faith in what the new government controlled healthcare system will bring about, I decided to opt out. I want every effort made to insure that I live and that me, myself & I am not viewed as an interference to the harvesting of organs so a few others can live at my expense. It is a worry. Though I admit I have enjoyed seeing a friend’s loved one become well again because of an organ transplant, yet I am exetremely fearful of the judgement of those in charge today.
