U.S. right-wing groups, militias surge: study 8 mins ago
PHOENIX (Reuters) The number of right-wing "Patriot" groups that see the U.S. government as their enemy more than doubled in the last year, fanned by anger over the economy and a backlash against the policies of President Barack Obama, according to a study published this week.
The report by the Southern Poverty Law Center said 512 anti-government Patriot groups were active in the United States last year, a leap from 149 in 2008.
The "Rage on the Right" report (www.splcenter.org) found that militias, the paramilitary arm of the Patriot movement, accounted for a large part of the increase, rising to 127 in 2009 from 42 a year earlier.
The militia and Patriot movement first came to attention in the mid-1990s in response to what the groups saw as a tyrannical government bent on curbing individual freedoms. Most notorious was Timothy McVeigh, who killed 168 people in a bomb attack on a federal building in Oklahoma City in 1995.
The study said some of the ideas of Patriot groups raging at the federal government in the 1990s have now become more mainstream, taken up by groups including some "Tea Party" grassroots conservative activists who are hoping to make a splash in November's congressional elections and beyond.
"The anger seething across the American political landscape -- over racial changes in the population, soaring public debt and the terrible economy, the bailouts of bankers and other elites, and an array of initiatives by the relatively liberal Obama administration that are seen as 'socialist' or even 'fascist' -- goes beyond the radical right," the report said.

Yes, we have a lot of work to do when (not if) this thing breaks loose.
“The report by the Southern Poverty Law Center “
Witch hunters will always find witches.
This is just a left wing front organization masquerading as a civil rights group anyway.
The same sort who denied that there were Stalinist Communists inside the USSR working on behalf of the USSR (knowingly or as useful idiots prodded by the KGB).
www.splcenter.org/what-we-do. "The Southern Poverty Law Center is dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry, and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. Using litigation, education and other forms of advocacy, we work toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality. We employ a three-pronged strategy to battle racial and social injustice: * We track the activities of hate groups and domestic terrorists across America, and we launch innovative lawsuits that seek to destroy networks of radical extremists. * We use the courts and other forms of advocacy to win systemic reforms on behalf of victims of bigotry and discrimination. * We provide educators with free resources that teach school children to reject hate, embrace diversity and respect differences."
Keep in mind, this is their version on bigotry. They're busy little bees and branch off into other activist opportunities. They're trying their best to sign up folks that live in the area of the Kingston Ash Spill (TVA). Folks in this area pretty much told them to butt out. They still trespass onto TVA property and make sure cameras are there when they're arrested and escorted out. They are firm followerers of Alinsky's rules.
I encourage the curious to visit their blog, but warn you -- they are so leftist, you'll feel like you need a shower after visiting: http://www.splcenter.org/blog/2009/10/01/national-socialist-movement/
inside the usa. Today we are becoming the USSA. Mao-men.
Funny how they don’t ever expose Left Wing groups like ANSWER, Code Pink, Neighbors For Peace and Justice. Red flags still in their desk drawers.
The Southern Poverty folks still have their red flags in the drawer. On second thought, the only red flags they have are ones that Marx, Stalin, Lenin, and Mao would approve of.
The most hate filled people I’ve ever encountered are ALL from the Left. Usually the ones with the “coexist” bumper stickers. A few years ago when we countered the annual ANSWER march in Hollywood, a friend of mine walked around their vendor area. She saw a coexist bumper sticker next to another sticker that encouraged “Kill Dick Cheney”. Yeah, that’s peaceful and tolerant.
If you spelled CO-EXIST as TOLERANCE, Christianity’s “cross T” would be first and Islam’s “crescent C” would be near the end.
All in how you lay out the design.
Those stickers are funny. Have you ever looked at one. They use the ecology “e” symbol and the peace sign. It’s crazy. But then so are the people who put those on their cars.

They haven’t called me either and they must be very, very secretive because I live in a small town and I would normally know if there was some radical group.
Not this SHIITE AGAIAN! How many times will the LSM talk about this... I am sick of it...
Just saw a bumper sticker at the grocery store the said” the highest for of patriotism is dissent”? And an Obama sticker..I almost waited to ask him what he thought of the Tea Parties... But the lib sucker wasn’t worth it.
They are leaving the door unlocked and walking away from the American people thier suppose to protect. This is the enemy within, if you feel your alone your right, your on your own.

Check the posted photo and see what the “hate expert” thinks of tea party members...
I would use the Enron E at the end of tolerance. Just to tweak the anticapitalists.
