Tip Leads Police to Missing Georgia Girl
Fox News ^ | 4 March 2010 | Ed Barnes

A 14-year-old Georgia girl who had been missing for more than a week was found Wednesday night when police raided a house in a community not far from her home.

Amber Graham of Aragon, Ga., was found in a house in the nearby town of Rockmart.

Police, using a search warrant based on a tip, arrested the occupants of the home: Stacie Fennell and her 15-year-old son, who was identified as the girl's boyfriend.

Authorities said Amber was unharmed.

Fennell and the boy, who was not named because he is a juvenile, have been charged with obstruction of justice, hindering an investigation and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to Aragon Police Captain Dwayne Alexander. The pair are currently being held, pending a court hearing.

Alexander said Amber originally went along with a scheme to run away to the Fennell home, but she seemed relieved when police raided the home. According to Alexander, police learned that the boy had a hidden compartment in his room that allowed Amber to avoid a consensual search of the house last week.

I don’t know exactly who did what. If the boy and girl hid in the secret room, why is he more culpable than she? If he helped her evade detection, then he only did something wrong if evading detection is wrong. Then she did it too.

No doubt the mother is way wrong here.

Unless we find out that the girl's parents beat the heck out of her on a daily basis.

Or we'll find out she ran away because her parents took away her cell.

Running away isn't really illegal is it?

Look at the ongoing case where the 17 year old left home out of fear for her life because her Islamist parents were upset that she had converted to Christianity.

“However, lying to the cops when they knock on your door is.”

Is lying to the cops illegal when telling them the truth could amount to self incrimination? I guess they could have just said the 5th Amendment.

They could have refused to answer and shut the door, sure. Then comes the search warrant if a judge sees fit. And with the welfare of a child at stake, he would have seen fit. Lying to the cops, however, just delays the inevitable. Actually, it makes the inevitable worse.

What’s the problem?

If you can't figure that out on your own I'm not going to waste my time explaining it to you.
