And Fred is a BIG BUDDY of McPain’s.
Ugghhh. I cannot believe I forgot about Fred Thompson. I have dutifully changed my tagline.
LLS
A lot of us love Fred, and for good reason. But didn’t we learn from his half-a$$ed campaign in 2008 that he doesn’t really want the job? It’s not like we can drag him in kicking and screaming.
I think we need a woman ... Sarah is the one. One thing you can tell about Sarah, if she doesn’t know, she will appoint someone who does.
Would Jeri run the WH like she does his radio show? I’m a proud Fredhead, so I fair in asking this.
Ok so to be President according to this article you need to be:
Old
From a small town
Been either in movies and/or tv
and
Male
Is that right?
I mean I love Fred, but dang...
Not sure about Thompson, but agree that these are exactly the characteristics needed in the next GOP presidential candidate. Anything less just isn’t enough.
If, as the article claims, the conservatives will control congress after 2010, and past 2012, what potential negatives would there be to a fully-conservative government? We now have ample evidence that a fully-liberal government is incapable of truly leading the country, and acts solely in its own self-interest. Truly conservative policies tend to be long on pragmatism, and somewhat shorter on humanitarian (for lack of a better term) elements. Would the mass elimination of wasteful government departments, cutting of entitlements, and dramatic reduction in safe-havens for unions have any backlash or negative consequences? I have to assume that there would be some, at least.
I sent Fred a campaign contribution last time around, and he dropped out of the race just days later. Once shame on you, twice, shame on me. No thanks.
I luv Fred, but if he didn’t want it bad enough in 2008 to campaign has hard as he could, what makes you think he would want it enough in 2012. Plus, he’s getting old, and still has health issues.
I supported Fred in 2008, but he doesn’t have the fire to be Prez, nor the energy any longer.
“Conservative republicans will control congress after 2012 elections??” Yeah. We thought that was the case in 1994 too! And didn’t WE get surprised!!
BULL!!!!!
Well said. That dog won’t hunt.
Fred had a fantastic opportunity and blew it.
Consider how he launched his candidacy in the first place. Nope, Fred did not have the necessary fire then and I have little confidence he'd have it this time.
Fred would be a great Dick Cheney for Sarah, not necessarily as Veep but certainly as mentor and senior advisor.
That said, an epic disaster that made it clear that a senior statesman had to be POTUS, then it's #1 Cheney, #2 Fred.
