A stampede broke out as thousands of people jostled each other to get free clothes and utensils being distributed during a religious ceremony.
I don't think many of us can imagine the extreme poverty these people must endure. When you're giving away free things to the poor, there's going to be a stampede. There should be a better way of distributing such things. Anyone have any ideas?

There should be a better way of distributing such things. Anyone have any ideas? Teach them how to fish?

Yup.. I was thinking it’s a combination of both.. Maybe rain collapsed their shelter while clothing was being given out.. the rush of water caused a mudslide.. panic and stampede ensued.

I’m thinking those are two different incidents. Same festival being celebrated but in different states. Course I don’t know Indian geography.

I remember a stampede in a bar in the United States (Chicago) which killed over 50 people... it wasn’t that long ago, either - around 5 years ago, or so.
