This is monstrous. Too many people in this country have no idea what is in store if this thing passes.

It is remotely administered mental health care.

This is a monstrosity.

I work in radiology, and teleradiology is a big deal for the military and a lot of hospitals now.

Telemedicine is being tried in some areas like parts of Nova Scotia where there might not be a hospital for 700 miles, and someone needs followup evaluation after surgery (or something like that)

They have a unit they send them home with that can basically do a teleconference, there are cameras where they can see a surgical site or things like that. When done, they stick the thing in the mail and send it back to the hospital.

I don’t have much experience with it, but I have heard about it.

At my hospital, we actually have a robot that can be remotely driven (or taken) to a patient’s bedside, and a clinician at home can consult on an issue in a pinch if there is no specialist immediately available in the time frame needed. To be honest, I think the damned thing might freak out some patients if it appeared at their bedside unattended while they were on morphine, but as a techhie, I kind of like the concept. It has a macro camera on it so it can get very close up pictures, a different wide angle one, and might even have an infrared one, etc.
