An inspector general's report ripped NOAA for unfairly targeting the northeast fishermen.
"I don't know if you know, it but we are in panic mode," said one local fisherman.
An industry in peril. Fisherman told one of the highest ranking members of NOAA who is in charge of fishing regulations that the rules are killing them. "You're going to see a lot of guys go by the wayside," said a Gloucester fisherman. "It's a shame because we put a lot of sacrifice into this, so to see it all go away is going to be a shame."
Dr. Jane Lubchenco is in Gloucester for a couple of reasons: To hear those in town who have seen 80 percent of their fleet go out of business and to face the fire from members of the Congressional Oversight and Government Reform Committee a meeting that is normally held in Washington, but today has been moved to Gloucester, where fishing is the economy, and where for years, fisherman say the federal enforcement has unfairly targeted them.
"Gloucester fishermen for years felt that they were being targeted like criminals," said U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich. "They felt that the fines were harsh. They were right."

Dale Jones took the brunt of the heat as the Director of Law Enforcement.

it was all show for the incumbent, John Tierney. Facing a challenge from Republican Bill Hudak, Tierney initiated this “field hearing” in Gloucester to show that he is in touch with the folks back home.
The reality is that Tierney and Congress have been aware of the problems of the fishing industry in Gloucester since 2006 and have done nothing to ease the burden imposed upon the Gloucester fishermen by NOAA.
Millions of dollars in fines have been imposed on Gloucester’s fishermen, boats have been seized and many forced out of the fishing industry since 2006. Nothing substantial came of this meeting other than a media event for members of Congress who are feeling the heat from their constituents for congress’ inaction on this and other matters that are important to the American people.

Silly question. You don't think they'd devote these resources to investigating the NOAA people doing the junk climate change science costing us billions do you? Much better to harass a bunch of innocent, defenseless fisherman.
90 percent of NOAAs law enforcement staff consists of criminal investigators instead of regulatory inspectors. NOAA agents often arrive on fishermens boats while at sea and on shore with guns displayed.
to Jones. Do you feel that most fishermen are criminals?
Mmmmmm...Grilled fish head. I hope they used plenty of mojito lime.
Jane Lubchenco is a greenpeace activist dressed in fisheries administrator clothing. ..Another Barry appointment.

I think there is something wrong with me.
Maybe something wrong with all of us...
a fishhead is worth a thousand words.
Those fishermen need the support of We the People...the congresscritter and the NOAA need their walkin’ papers
She's also a BIG anti CO2 loon.
Not surprising...Zer0 hasn't missed a thing when it comes to his appointments. It'll be a beautiful day when he goes out the door with all of them following, I just hope not too much damage is done to our country before that day comes.
Some newspaper editors write the worst headlines.
I seriously doubt they have much security around them. Were I in their position I might be a bit more circumspect about screwing with people who fish for a living.
They just might find themselves in a chum bucket.
Thank God they didn’t push the envelope and write:
Head Grilled At Herring
And they didn’t refer to anyone hooked on the new program, fishing for answers, floundering around or casting about so they can reel in new grant money!

My wife says she came, she saw, she purchased.
LOL! Uncle!
I’ll have to make sure your wife doesn’t link up with mine. My wife considers a night out as surfing EBay.
Oh, hey! Surfing! ;-)
Fishery Enforcement Head Grilled At Hearing;
Why grill only his head?
