Increased crime, welfare fraud, free education, free medical, food stamps, housing, loss of jobs, loss of tax revenue etc.... all in name of supposedly saving a few cents on our vegetables. Illegal immigration is the number one issue facing this nation.
To compete in the modern global economy, we need large numbers of highly educated, highly skilled people. A single worker skilled in the technology/creative economy sectors would bring the country something like 2 million dollars in net tax revenue over his working lifetime. The more of these specialists we have, the better off the country would be. The government seems to be pursuing an immigration policy totally in reverse of that and against the interests of this country.
1. Allowing tens of millions of uneducated, unskilled immigrants to flood into the labor force to compete with the hordes of poorly-educated American citizens.
2. Blocking/Reducing the total number of highly skilled legal immigrants from Eurasia. Those people have to work somewhere, so if we force them to work in the EU, China, India, or Russia, those nations would enjoy the benefits.
3. Bringing foreign specialists into the country via H1B Visas. This has to be the worst policy. Since it simultaneously builds up the skills of a foreign specialist who will then bring those skills back to their home country when their Visa expires while simultaneously emasculating our own engineering base.
